Quote from: PurpleBlancmange board=faq thread=12 post=29 time=1234259433This new prop, and in deed the entire Console Room set, now appears to be much larger and somewhat more organic in its design theme.  Each control panel illuminates from below and is decorated in a variety of junk and pipework.

New transparent panels are added after the original ones melt when someone over egged the internal lighting during the Children in Need post regeneration scene.

Please feel free to add photo references for this prop here, making sure that your photo is of the prop used during the correct era above.

For a full summary of the console history, see Purple's FAQ entry.

Hiya, I thought I'd be the first to put some serious images down for this. These were taken by someone (I'm sorry I've forgotten who they are) who had the privilege of visiting the sets of Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures after winning that Children in Need Set Visit competition. So I present to you, very good images of the new series console...

Soon seems to have turned into 3 years! Well here I am, back with more 'from the day'. Obviously with the prop on display now it makes my reference materials redundant, but I hope someone finds them useful.

From Doctor Who Adventures magazine:

Sorry about the gaps, torn from a mag and scanned!

Accurate enough to guestimate measurements perhaps?

Wow! I wish we could get this "DWA" mag in the States. I would love to have gotten my hands on this issue! And while I don't agree with everything they've got listed on the cover (their "Master Control Panel" is obviously the one with the Trimline phone on it, and their "Information Systems Panel" is obviously the rib with the lever that Tennant used as the Demat/Remat Lever), the rest is a good reference for what controls did what, and pretty well match up.

I love these scans. Thank you so much for posting them. (As for your time table, as they say, good things are worth waiting for!) I still wish I could have gotten hold of this issue, but this mag isn't available in the States. At least I've never come across it in any of my travels to a book store.

Hi folks, I've been looking all around for images of the 2005 console that give some indication about construction and finally just dug up my own external hard drive image folder and found all sorts of goodies that I'd long forgotten about and can't find anywhere else.   Most or all came from the BBC site at various stages but I can't find even a hint of them anymore.  So, in the spirit of sharing, I present some 2005 console images.    Just a note - didn't the console look lovely and new and fresh and clean during construction?  Look how straight the ceramic edges where before people started sitting on them!03b.jpg04b.jpgtardis2_1600.jpg06b.jpg13gnf.jpg14sf.jpg15.jpg16.jpg17.jpg17c2c9e066fbb858c9f0a49de638f7b0.jpg18sf.jpg19sdf.jpg20sdfs.jpg21df.jpg23fgdf.jpg24.jpg25fdgf.jpg26.jpg27.jpg28dfg.jpg[attachid]29.jpg[attachid]30dgf.jpg[attachid]31.jpg[attachid]32.jpg[attachid]33.jpg[attachid]34dfgdf.jpg[attachid]35.jpg[attachid]36.jpg[attachid]37fgfd.jpg[attachid]39.jpg[attachid]40.jpg[attachid]2950519294_06db696ca6_o.jpg[attachid]dt1.jpg[attachid]dt2.jpg[attachid]dt4.jpg[attachid]gal_9.jpg[attachid]gal_10.jpg[attachid]replica717840685_c9eb854835_o.jpg[attachid]The TARDIS-11.JPG[attachid]xx02.jpg[attachid]y05.jpg[attachid]y05.jpg[attachid]xx01.jpg[attachid]NSTARDIS3.jpg

Pretty interesting how they'd originally planned for a more technological, less "junkyard" look during production design... would've made for quite a difference in appearance.  Thanks for posting those!

OH MY GLOB! :o Fantastic photos! What I wouldn't give for just one of those small hexel wall panels to put into my ceiling trougher light! (I'd love to a whole ceiling like that, but I'd settle for one small panel to go with what I've got now.)

Droool, da-roool!
