Hello again folks. Here is another one of my little boxes. this time I've done the early version of the Police box with a candle stick telephone behind a glass door. This is a brief build diary, as most of the construction is exactly the same as the Glasgow box I put up previously. The exception here being that I managed to print the plans onto styrene sheet and have made the model from that.
  This time when I painted it, I did not use the horrible lacquer which made such a mess of the Glasgow Box's windows! So on this one they remain clear as crystal!
  The paint job is not finished; it looked so smart in its black undercoat that for now I mean to leave it like that -until that is, its been on a few adventures!


  Here you can see the back of the telephone cupboard. Unfortunately, I did not bother with a picture of the candle stick telephone. It is so tiny in any case!




  Note the door lock. This was VERY fiddly!



  There you go! ( Unfortunately, there was a small smudge on my lens!)

At that scale, it is kind of hard to trick anyone into thinking it is a full sized actual box, but you can appreciate the skillful execution of the model and the techniques of photographing it to make it look as realistic as possible (if that makes any sense).  Bottom line, very nicely done.  The shot of the open door with the brass lockwork is especially nice.

  Thanks Volpone. Its better to photograph the miniatures in natural light. Thats the trick really. Also getting the angle right, so you are looking at say, a Police Box from the correct perspective. I always line up the bars under the window to an assumed eye level. When I put 'cut-outs' of real people in like the one with Tom Baker its can be tricky to get the height of them right, but the magic of the paintshop means you can change the size accordingly.
The picture of Tom Baker -I cannot remember where I found that! But here it is. Yes, he does look very young- nothing to do with all of us getting older of course!
