Now that's an idea I would like to know how you did it.

Dry brushing is a lovely easy way to highlight and weather things. All you need is a knackered old fluffyish brush, just dip the tips of the bristles in the paint, rub most of it off on an old piece of paper (newspaper is good) and then brush lightly and quickly on your model. It picks up on all the corners and little lumps and bumps most satisfactorily. Experiment on something first to get the hang of it.

So i tried some milk carton plastic on the windows and I'm pretty pleased with the results, just going to try some thinnned grey and black paint mix to weather the windows now.

More weathering with a grey paint and dry brushing which I'm pretty chuffed with (especially as it was my first attempt at this ever!).

Nice work.👍 Mooncrest Models do the door handles and Yale locks for the TARDIS in 1/6.

Thanks! That was really useful and I'm getting some nice results with a grey dry brushing.

There are lots of good ways to weather a model TARDIS, but it depends what you want it to look like. Here are some tips I use for my models. Weathering is my favourite part of building a TARDIS.

Dark Wash. Very watered down dark grey paint added area by area and then remove the paint with pieces torn from a washing up sponge. Make the sponge damp and wipe the paint off in a top to bottom motion (for streaks) or dab it off for patches. I would not use black as it is too harsh.

Dry brushing (explained above). The problem with dry brushing is that it's easy to over do it, and it's best to stick to the edges. I wouldn't use white, as again it is too harsh.

Pigment powders. I use these to add dust, for example on the doorstep.

Worn paint. Gently scrape the paint with a piece of fine sand paper. One pass will lighten the paint and if you carry on the wood will start to show through.

Chipping. I do this by scraping off small chips of paint with a craft knife so the wood shows. It's best to follow a prop photo when doing this.
