If anyone could give me an idea where to get the quarter-round beading for the corner posts I'd be eternally grateful. It needs to be 3mm really (or 1/8 inch in imperial, which is about 3.2mm). I've found a few dolls house websites in the US that sell it, but nothing over here so far.

Here are my finished balsa window frames...

model25.jpg

There are 9 of them, I made an extra one because I wasn't quite happy with one of them. So I used the one I liked least of all as a prototype to try out the paint and window panes with. I made the windows out of old CD cases, sanded to make them look frosted, and also used a couple of bits of some cheap plastic CD wallets to try and simulate the hammered glass in the corners...

It's ended up looking pretty good, but I tried a couple of different things and made a bit of a mess in places so hopefully I can make the others better.

8 finished windows...

Bit of a panic in the morning as I had left the frames to dry over night from painting and the cats apparently had a battle during the night and broke two of them. Luckily they glued pretty much seamlessly so it was no real problem, apart from the scare.

Battling cats? My money's on Frankenstein! lol
Super looking set of windows though (Despite feline interference)
Balsa is a very soft medium, and easy to repair seamlessly most times, as you say. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this build
Great stuff

It's quite a strange experience, never really having built anything before - some days it seems like it's dragging on forever, and other days it seems as though the end is almost in sight. But I suppose really it's only been a couple of months and I'm making pretty good progress...

This is just a blu-tack test again, but I'm sure this time I'm almost ALMOST ready to get some glue on it and finally have something freestanding :)

A child is being born.  Are you going for the Troughton/Pertwee TARDIS?  I ask as I notice the center divider on the side facing the camera is short.

Yep that's what I'm going for. I suppose with the style of the base, and the dark colour it will be painted, it would be best described as a Season 8 box :) The Sketchup model I made (on the first page) is the lighter paintwork from a bit later on, but I will be going with the darker.

Jon is absolutely right. This model is a complete work of art. I'm particularly looking forward to the "Blue paint moment" when it occurs.

Get the bloody windows in and the roof on, we want more pics damnit! ;)
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

The bloody windows will go in after it's painted. Which won't be until the sign boxes are on too. Which won't be until I've built them. Which I won't do until I've fastened the doors on. Which won't get done until all the walls are glued on. Which won't happen until I've put some polyfiller in a few cracks and holes... the list is endless :)

Well here's a close-up of the textured and painted door. I think it went pretty well. I also decided, more or less at the last minute, to have a go at making a fake lock out of the end of a pencil, just because it happened to be exactly the right size, and I'm pretty happy with how that looks too.
