Hi Bill.
Yes, the dial is fake & the buttons are push buttons.
You can easily see it's modern if you look close, but from a distance it does the job!

As I said, it's still convincing.

Funny enough, I possess two functioning 1968 Western Electric desk phones I can still jack into my landline.

Obviously, they are not appropriate for a police box prop/set piece; I just wanted to "brag" upon some "vintage" tech I inherited from my late father.

Lovely phone there! With a lovely little stand too!!
I need to fix the dial on my one, pulled it off to fix the return mechanism and then 5 years passed. Oops.
