why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

KIT-KAT

I know this is slightly off topic but does anyone know where I can get a clean rip of the tardis demat sound in this? it seems to be commonly used in the 1990s and has a more distorted deep sound
No, not the mind probe!

Aha! Blue Peter! Now, that's my department.

This episode is actually a little bit earlier - it was broadcast 18th April 1991 (if only the post had gone up tomorrow, I could have said '28 years ago today'!), and was Blue Peter's 2450th episode.

According to the log of the episode in the BBC archives, it features;

QuoteDR WHO COSTUME SALE / MARATHON CHARITY RUNNERS (with Peter Duncan) / NORWAY ICE CLIMB VT (Diane) / SPAGHETTI CARBONARA COOK / BATTERY OPERATED SPAGHETTI FORK

Which, all things considered, is a very typical mix of uniquely Blue Peter features!

Thank you Will, this is really good information. I appreciate it.

I'm not sure the motorized spaghetti fork is actually that great an idea. I just imagine that it might ...I don't know, mess with your teeth or possibly accidentally get shoved into somebody's cheek or something. I suppose the same could be said for a regular fork. :P

I originally dated this article based on another article that already exists on Tardis builders.

Hi, I just found this in my scrapbook. It's the Bonham's auction article in the newspaper. I assume this would be around 1994? and bought by Andrew Beech?   ???tardis at bonhams.jpg

Now that we have a correct date for this Blue Peter, the date of the other post is in doubt /or Maybe there were more than one Bonham's auction.

I'm glad we identified this episode. I've updated the http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=9626.0

Thank you once again

Nate

Nate - and Will - thanks for the information; Nate, I really appreciate you creating your list of TY-J appearances - it's a really good idea and is obviously a work of love on your part.

If I may, one suggestion and one piece of information for you:

From Arc of Infinity onwards, the TY-J box had either been very heavily restored or had been completely rebuilt. Might I therefore suggest rather than calling it the Mark I box from this point, might it be an idea to call it "the Mark IA" Box or possibly the "Mark I (refurb)" Box?

The 1982 Trafalgar Square appearance was recorded as part of the "This Is Your Life" tribute to Peter Davison. JN-T had told Davison that he was recording a promotional trailer for Australia's ABC network only for Eamonn Andrews to surprise the actor by appearing with his big red book! (I don't know why, but for the subsequent studio recording of This Is Your Life, the TY-J box wasn't used but rather a completely different box appeared and - as far as I'm aware - this mystery box never appeared anywhere else.)

While I think the purpose of the thread was a visual reference, I guess the sound effect is also a reference here.  Which gives me, in my deputy part-time moderator (think Capaldi in his Paddington 2 costume) role, a chance to point out that, if you scroll down past the new posts, TARDIS Builders has a list of child forums--one of which is "TARDIS Sound Effects":  http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=92.0

But to answer the question, it looks like this may be your best bet for what you're looking for (Scarfwearer shared it in the above forum):  http://web.archive.org/web/20090319202930/http://www.dwwa.net/tardis.htm
"My dear Litefoot, I've got a lantern and a pair of waders, and possibly the most fearsome piece of hand artillery in all England. What could possibly go wrong?"
