According to Anthony Sibley's TARDIS history at Glen's TARDIS Library, the TYJ bevels have a 21° angle.

Well, I guess these are broken links..... I can't check this to see what it says about The Five Doctors.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Tony's excellent work doesn't say much for The Five Doctors.

The reason I don't say much is that the box in use was the TY-J Mark 1a and it was pretty much unchanged from it's previous appearances in Season Twenty.

It's a shame that Purpleblancmange has taken down his Tardis history - even though I disagreed with some of his conclusions, it was still a good read.

Honestly, I think that's the full sized prop in a long shot, rather than a model...

It wouldn't be the first time the paperwork is wrong.

Completely agree with Steve - this is a long-distance shot of the full sized Tardis (TY-J Mark 1a). I don't see why exploding several charges would in any way damage the full-sized prop whether stationary or dematerialising - you simply film a shot with the box present, then remove it and shoot the explosion(s); the two shots can then be blended or edited together in post-production.

I must admit it does look like the full size one, so perhaps it was a mistake.

Although some of the VFX explosions can be very big, see the damage to the Daleks in Remembrance of the Daleks, when they blew Radcliffe's yard doors.

Also nothing in the DWAS Making of Five Doctors magazine about it, other than saying a small explosion was triggered to create a lot of smoke and the picture cut to a second explosion with The TARDIS gone.

Also checked the DWM special on VFX, nothing there, but there is an interview with VFX assistant George Reed, who says he made the TARDIS miniature and sliding doors model in Pyramids of Mars, and there is a photo of him with a model TARDIS on page 60.

There is also a great picture of Ian Scoones in a newspaper cutting, standing on a model TARDIS, in the same issue.

By the way, that Timelash model, looks like the one in the Planet of Fire publicity pictures.

It wasn't intended to be a criticism. I just reviewed the all the works of the great Masters and provided a reference. ;)

Isn't Shawcraft Box 1 used by the pit in Planet of Evil? On one hand, it's amazing if it survived. On the other, I can't see spending the money on a new 1:3 (?) just for one shot at the time.

Yes, this is the same 1:3 scale model built for 'The Romans'....

fivefingeredstyre

Wasn't there a new model TYJ made for the Terror if the Vervoids compilation last year?

It may well be, but this is just a list of boxes. I'm only showing first appearances in this list, otherwise it's going to get out of hand.

I'm not against a full list for each box, on their own boards.

So someone asked me in a different thread about this so apologies as I can't find it, but here are some model shots
from a certain movie workprint. My other pics from that old eBay listing are better, but this is interesting (well at least to me) all the same!
