Dalek Hand Gun

Hi all, Got a new project come up. The dalek gun. Now i needa lil help here. I know how to make the forward gun bit which is easy. But the question is how to built the rear area. Cause im thinking i would love to make this thing be able to light up and etc. I.E. You push the button (trigger) and it lights at the front of the gun and maybe makes a sound. But im then im not too sure how to go about building it. Im mainly thinking of 3d printing most bits here since i have the model nearly completed as shown here:

But i'm not too sure how to go about modelling/ printing it, I'm thinking hollow for sure how am not too sure how i would go about attaching to the metal ball unless i just look at gluing it in place. Would love some help on this. Thanks.
