Wow!!!
Thanks so much for posting that!

I love the Kiss monster boots & those concept pics & article are awesome!!

As Nate said in an earlier post, most of the built up boots on Ebay cost quite a bit, especially as it's just for some daft photos.

But I have added some filler to my bodge-up boots, & they are starting to look a bit better.
Photos soon, I hope!!!

Btw: Those plasterers extension thingys look lethal!!

No way would you get me in a pair of those!

Thanks again for the pics.

Regards,

Russell

Sooo...

I made a pair of 3 finger gloves from an old black T-shirt.

Quite pleased with that...
Real sewing! whatever next?
I'm becoming like a real cosplayer!!!

Nearly done with this one now.   ;D

Hope you guys are all well.

The filler I splodged onto my boots has dried:

Which means I was able to give them a coat of black:

2.jpg

Can't wait to try them on.
I'm sure I'll see the world in a completely different way.

                             INTERLUDE:

And now for something completely different:

In between my bull fighting activities I have still been plugging away with bits & bobs for my "City of Death" cosplay.

Scarlioni wears a gold/bronze tie pin on his cravat. Difficult to get a clear image, but I think it looks like a sword or a dagger.

So I made a little one from cardboard, which I painted with metallic acrylic:

I'll put a pin on the back when it dries.

He also carries a gun, so I got one from the pound shop:

44.jpg

It's scary how realistic you can make a toy gun look, just by giving it a spray with metallic grey:

55.jpg

And he also wears a ring on his right hand "pointing" finger.
Toy rings are always too small for my thick manly fingers & I didn't want to pay for a real one, so I just knocked one up with a strip of gold card & a button, which I painted blue.
( I couldn't tell if his ring was blue or black, but I thought blue would match his cravat better.)

Anyway, I think it came out good enough for the photos:

Finally, I wanted to recreate the sketch that the street artist does of Romana- You know, the one where he does her face as a broken clock. (Maybe he's just no good at faces...)
Anyway, this is my attempt:

So I am keeping myself busy until Bozza lets me go back to work.. ;D

Anyhow,
Thanks for looking in.

I've always like that scene from "City of Death", the cafe sequence with the artist.  I've occasionally wondered if anybody expanded upon that character.  Oh, I'm certain some fan, somewhere, at some time, has written some fan fiction.  But I'm thinking of BBC sanctioned material, be it a novel (doesn't have to be the "focus" of the main plot) or even a comic printed within Doctor Who Monthly.

Interesting that the upper horizontal crack resembles the infamous "crack in time" that was the the arc for Matt Smith's debut series.  I can't recall; did the on screen sketch have a similar fracture, or was that your "flourish"?  If the latter, did you intend that as an "homage" to the Matt Smith era?

Sincerely,

Bill

Thanks for your comments and interest Bill.

Although I'm not too sure I want to comment too much on my upper horizontal crack!  ;)

(Tbh, I just winged it from memory- there was no intention to make a connection with Matt's crack. ;D)

I, too loved the sketch scene.
I always wondered why he drew her face as a clockface...was he secretly a Time Lord, or even a Time Agent in the know...?

Anyhoo...It's little touches like this that make City of Death" the classic that it is!  ;D

Can't wait to show you more!

Russ,

You definitely have to post a video of you wandering around dressed as Nimon...

I totally need to see this...

russellsuthern

Ha! Sounds like fun, but I've only just started to work out the mysteries of the static camera, let alone video...

Although I have toyed with the thought of doing some short video funnies a few times, so this might be something I experiment with in the future....

(But, bearing in mind the choice of characters I have to dress up as...be careful what you wish for!!!  :o  )

Cheers,

Russ

Is it too late to post a rare image I came across my hard drive that may or may not be of reference to the Movellans ?

It made me think of you.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

russellsuthern

Never too late to post a picture...
As we all know, time doesn't move in a straight line...It's all timey-wimey...

Tom & Lalla look great, as does the Movellan lady... but who is the lady in the front supposed to be?
Is she relevant to Dr Who, or did she just get caught up in the photoshoot?

I'd be interested to know...

Cheers!

I assume she is an actress ... Kinda looks familure. I almost think she might be the costume designer.

russellsuthern

Agreed....
I thought she looked vaguely familiar too...

Back to all things Nimony...
I am rewatching "The Time Monster" to see if David Prowses Minotaur bears any resemblance to a Nimon.
(Now THAT'S dedication!!)

If anyone thinks the Nimon is a bad monster design they should check out the Chronovore...I actually think he gets my vote for worst Dr Who monster of all time!!  :o

Secondly, I remember Tom Baker once saying how they always tried to resolve the adventures cleverly or wittily, but then they'd always run out of time, money or ideas & just go for blowing everything up.
"The Horns of Nimon" is a classic example of this.
I was thinking that a much cleverer resolution would be for The Doctor to reprogram the Nimon transmat to materialize directly into the mincing machines at MacDonalds or Burger King...

Solve the problem of a Nimon Invasion & world hunger in one go!!

(Apologies to any vegetarians reading this gruesome idea... )

All the best,

Russell
