So recently, I've been working my way through the "New" Eighth Doctor Adventures audio series, the stories featuring Sheridan Smith's Lucie Miller as the companion. And today, as I listened to the story ORBIS (2009) today, I couldn't help but stare at the cover image in befuddlement.

The cover features a photomanip of the TARDIS, and for the life of me I can't figure out what version it's based on. One would assume that it should just be the Hudolin box, considering this is a Paul McGann story, but it also bears a resemblance to one of the Yardley-Jones models as well.

And at the same time, the sign boxes (particularly the top one) and the lamp are very NuWho, specifically the then-current Richmond/Thomas box.

I almost think that this mix-and-match aspect was intentional. After all, the Lucie Miller stories were written as a sort of bridge between the styles of the classic series/audios and the RTD-era show. Maybe this hybrid design was supposed to match that feel?

Or maybe I'm just overanalyzing a shoddy photomanip from 2009, lol

EDIT: Also, I wasn't quite sure where to post this topic, so feel free to move it to wherever works best. I settled on this section since the other topics are focused on discussing different aspects of the TARDIS designs, and outliers like the Jade Pagoda.

The multi-Doctor audios use a similar design in place of one of the Doctors' faces on the sidebar.54C853C4-9BCD-4FD5-A2FE-07D3888229BC.jpeg
