Eccleston/Tennant 1/6 Scale TARDIS Build

The Police Public Call Box sign is laser cut from a clear acrylic that is about 1.5mm thick.  One side has a black substrate on it.  I laser etch the side that has the black substrate on it in reverse so when viewed from the clear acrylic side it is read normally.  Where the laser hits the black material it removes it down to the clear acrylic.  This allows you to put a light source behind it and illuminate the etched areas.  I hope this makes sense, see attached image below for how the reversed etching looks.

As for the lamp, I got a hold of the actual Gardman lamp that was used on the full size prop.  I had it recreated in 3D by a friend of mine.  I took the 3D rendering and scaled it down to 1/6 and then had the 1/6 scale piece printed at shapeways.
