What ARE those weird rotate-y things behind the roundels in the 2nd picture? Does anybody have any idea whatsoever?

I would think that the patterns are there to suggest that the Tardis is travelling in the vortex (rather like the lightning illuminating the roundels when Susan collects the anti-radiation drugs in the first Dalek story or the roundels becoming back-lit when Pertwee's version of the Tardis was in flight).  :)

Thank you for explaining that!  :)
It isn't very appealing to my eye, looks more "60s" than "timeless", if that makes any sense.

I wouldn't judge the appearance of the recreated Tardis interior from the appearance of one small section of it from one small part of the trailer for the Xmas Special.

If I were you, I'd wait to see the episode (and set) in full and then judge the recreated Tardis interior in all its beautiful magnificence!   :)

Bumping this because the BBC have released a whol load of images from the Xmas special, including several of the First Doctor's Tardis (inside and out) that might be useful for prop reference http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05q8mt6/p05q8knb

I just have to ask: Why does the First Doctor have 'hexagonal things' on his walls?

Better quality versions of the pictures for you:

(I would think Angelus that photo blow-up walls would be deemed unacceptable to modern-day audiences!  ;) )

Could be... but on closer inspection, those aren't just any 'hexagonal things' they're the same ones as The Curator's gallery!

The side not usually shown?  i.e. where the cameras would have been?

I like the look.

I loved the hexagonal roundels in the Curators Gallery and hoped they'd use them in a future design. Here they are retconned into the original.

Good question! They just look... wrong. Totally out of place.

So, just throw authenticity out of the window for the "Old Guard" fans after going through so much trouble to get the TARDIS exterior, and parts of the interior, as accurate as possible to the original? (To me, at least, it looks like someone got lazy and decided to reuse those Curator hexagon things instead.)

There is a 360 degree now...

If that 360-degree is accurate with wall placement and number of walls, then someone would have had to go through a lot of work to make more of those hexagon things. (Photo Blow-up walls would have been far better. Also, unless it's just the lighting, that console room looks way too white. Where is the green console? I know they painted it white for "Hell Bent", but then they painted it green again. Did they have that much extra time on their hands, and money in their pockets, to paint the bloody thing white again?!)

I just hope it looks more "Hartnell" in the episode than it does in the publicity photos because as white as it looks in those photos, and with those hexagons on the walls, that set does not speak "Hartnell" to me.

Sorry to say, but that console is more of the Davison era with the raised edges on the panels!
