Hi guys, another little prop I made last night, is the Eye Medallion seen in Greatest Show In the Galaxy.

It's made up of an old hard drive disc, a ping pong ball, tin foil, foam and an eyelet ring

The most tricky part was getting the bronze paint to stay on the tin foil

Have a read of my build, it will tell you how to paint the tin foil as I had the same problem & solved it. http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7064

Nice build by the way, nice use of the HDD disc too. Not sure if you know, this might help too. http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7523.msg94349#msg94349

Nice! Very accurate to the original there in particular to the back - nice work.

I wonder if its possible to 3D print an convincing eye with all it's metal folds?  ???

Possibly, but you would need a printer with a high resolution to recreate all the "wrinkles" properly (not to mention someone skilled enough to model all those tiny little details in the first place.) Then again, you could always create a model of the entire medallion, have it 3D printer then cover the back in tin foil to recreate the wrinkled effect - like BioDoctor900 and Davros Skaro did for their builds.
