The Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) hat band - Silver Nemesis

An original screen used hat band worn by Sylvester McCoy as The Doctor in the long running BBC television series Doctor Who.

All of the paisley design hat bands worn on the hat were actually pocket handkerchiefs that were sourced for production by costume designer Ken Trew from a London tobacconist, the handkerchiefs were cut in half, folded and tied to be used on the hat throughout McCoy's tenure as The Doctor.

This particular hat band can be conclusively screen matched to the one worn by McCoy throughout the 25th anniversary serial Silver Nemesis and appears to be the only one used for this story. Every detail can be matched on screen proving that this hat band can be absolutely guaranteed 100% screen used even down to a thread of red cotton where it was stitched to the hat.

This represents an incredibly rare example of guaranteed screen used and matched Doctor's costume piece from this classic series celebrating its 50th anniversary.

why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Nemesis arrow - Silver Nemesis

An original arrow used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

This arrow was used in the 1988 serial Silver Nemesis starring Sylvester McCoy as The Doctor and is a key plot device and one of a number of elements that must be bought together to gain control of the Nemesis. The prop is an off the shelf arrow which was primed, chromed and lacquered silver for the story in the same manner as the Cyberman helmets, this process resulted in a reaction which turned the props a deep gold colour.

The arrow tip retains this gold colour with the main shaft of the arrow having heavily flaked revealing the primer underneath, otherwise the prop is in good production used condition with the feathers still retaining some of the original silver finish. The arrow measures an impressive 32" in length.

A fantastic example of a key plot device from this 25th anniversary story which marked the final appearance of the Cybermen in the classic series of the show.

Asteroid filming miniature - Silver Nemesis

An original filming miniature used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

This asteroid miniature was used on screen in the 25th anniversary serial Silver Nemesis starring Sylvester Mccoy as The Doctor. Constructed by Alan 'Rocky' Marshall of the BBC Visual Effects Department the prop is built around a metal frame with sculpted polystyrene which has been coated and painted to a textured finish to give a rock like appearance. The prop features a hole to the top with a bulb inside to be lit with a thruster of plastic to the base and plate to the back of vacuum formed and wooden construction. There is a mounting hole to the rear end where the miniature would have been rigged for filming, this represents the only miniature asteroid built for the show.

The miniature measures an incredible 26" in length and remains in excellent condition with only minor paint loss and wear from production use.

This represents an impressive and rare example of a filming miniature from this cult television series.
