There was some mention of these coins in Davros Skaro's http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7855.0 topic, and of course I was intrigued. So after a bit of digging I found these images in warmcanofcoke's http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7132.0 thread (hope you don't mind me reposting them here)





All in all this could be a fun little build - I might give it a try if I get a round tuit.

Thanks for identifying that "bug" for us, rassilonsrod (it just shows, they would use literally anything as a prop in the 70s and 80s )

There's the big coin from Aldebaran III in the Pirate Planet but haven't any pics.

Thanks Cardinal. Do you know which episode of the Pirate Planet this is? If we can get an episode number I'll have a look and see if I can get some images (this just saves me the trouble of having to go through all 4 parts trying to find it - unless someone beats me to it of course )

As a little side-note, I thought I'd heard of "Aldebaran" before: it turns out the drinks that River kept in the Doctor's TARDIS in The Husbands of River Song was actually "Aldebaran Brandy" (that and it sounds an awful lot like the planet "Alderaan" from the Star Wars movies!

(The Doctor uncovers the coin. It is heads.)
MULA: How can you take such a dangerous decision like that, just leaving it to chance.
(It's a double headed coin.)
DOCTOR: Two kings on Aldebaran Three.
MULA: That's not fair.

GLITZ: Philanthropist, you ignorant dink. Didn't you learn nothing in that remand home?
DIBBER: Well, whatever the word, he guessed that you weren't one.

DIBBER: Well, how do I know? I've never seen one.
GLITZ: A philanthropist, my son, is someone who gives away all their grotzits out of the simple goodness of their heart.
DIBBER: Oh, you mean they're stupid? Oh yeah, you probably do look like one, then.

GLITZ: This is real machonite, you know. Worth a few grotzits today, Your Honour.
DOCTOR: Glitz.
GLITZ: I could make you a fair offer on a job lot, do you a very good deal.
DOCTOR: Glitz!
GLITZ: What?
DOCTOR: You were sent here by the Master.
GLITZ: Yeah, well, he's a business partner, so to speak. We've had a few nice little tickles together
DOCTOR: This court is not interested in your sordid business deals, Glitz.
INQUISITOR: Very good, Doctor. Keep him to the point.


GLITZ: But he was here.
DOCTOR: Illusion, Glitz. The shadow, not the substance. But if you don't want to come, you can stay here and build sandcastles. I'm sure if you think hard enough, you can conjure up a bucket and spade.
GLITZ: Tell you something. If you two meet face to face, five grotzits gives you ten he's first past the chequered flag.



(The Master and Glitz are watching this on the scanner.)
MASTER: I want you to rejoin the Doctor and lead him to the Valeyard.
GLITZ: No chance. You don't catch me going near no more quill pens again.
(The Master swings a shiny pendant in front of Glitz.)
GLITZ: I'm just going to stay here till I can get back to my own kind and some honest thieving.
(Glitz's eyes follow the pendant.)
MASTER: Splendid, splendid. Listen to me. Are you listening, Sabalom Glitz?
GLITZ: Not really. I was just wondering how many grotzits this little bauble cost you.
(Glitz takes it from the Master, so the Master wheels out a large wooden chest.)
MASTER: Perhaps this will appeal to your crass soul.
(A pirate's treasure chest.)
GLITZ: Truly a wondrous sight for a connoisseur such as myself. There isn't a living creature in the universe I couldn't bribe with this little lot.
MASTER: Yours, if you follow my orders.
(The Master slams the lid shut, just missing Glitz's fingers.)

BELAZS: This spacecraft is mine.
GLITZ: Hang on, the seventy two hours aren't up yet. You said if I could get hold of the grotzits I could have the Nosferatu back.
BELAZS: Then I shall just have to make sure you don't manage to find the money in time. I shall have to make very sure.

KITSON: Thank you, Mister Freeth. Well now, we'll start with a look at our little menagerie of creatures from outer space, beginning with the crab-clawed Kamelius from the deserts of Aldebaran Two.

DOCTOR: Where did you say this creature comes from, Mister Kitson?
KITSON: It lives in the deserts of Aldebaran Two, a small planet about the size of Venus.
DOCTOR: Hmm. About sixty eight light years away, if I'm not mistaken.
KITSON: That is correct.
DOCTOR: Well then, would you be so good as to explain how you managed to persuade it to come to Hampstead Heath?
KITSON: That, Doctor, would be telling.

DOCTOR: Yes, well, you're missing the point, Mister Freeth. If those animals are a form of ER, then the experience of them has been recorded. They're all images of real creatures. I recognised your so-called crab-clawed Kamelius as soon as I saw it.
FREETH: You recognised it? Who are you, Doctor?
DOCTOR: Somebody who spent a long weekend on Aldebaran Two a few years ago. Too long a weekend. The food was disgusting.
FREETH: (laughing) Yes, it is, isn't it. How many recipes are there for cactus pulp?

(The Doctor tosses the coin onto a red section, and it gets zapped by electricity until it goes BANG.)
DOCTOR: Tilt. Right, let's go and see what other pleasures they have in store for us.
