I'm always jealous of shops like that.  Mine isn't terrible.  But I do need to pull the car out if I'm working on anything much bigger than cutting 2x4s.

+1.

Okay today I poured a cement slab for the first time and it turned out "alright ". My dad stopped by afterward and  told me I mixed too dry, but it will get the job done. It took 17, 80 pound bags of cement. 2017-06-10 14.12.00.jpg I welded some all thread rods to a piece of angle iron and poured the cement over the angle iron. I'm going drill a couple of holes in the base and slide the all threads through and then bolt it down. That should keep the old girl anchored down during the severe thunder storms we get around here.

Well I wasn't going to put the tardis  back together until it went outside but a family member which is also a fellow whovian came in from across the country,so I put her back together (a little bit ). I installed the posts, doors and one wall so I thought I would share.2017-06-16 07.37.42.jpg I must admit that it was a good feeling .

Ok today was the day 2017-06-16 15.29.43.jpg2017-06-16 15.30.04.jpg2017-06-16 15.31.12.jpg2017-06-16 15.31.31.jpg2017-06-16 15.32.05.jpg2017-06-16 15.38.15.jpg thank goodness my dad helped with the roof!  All and all I'm pretty happy how things went together, so now it's time to start planning the laying boxes and roost.

Wow! I love a good TARDIS build, especially one that doubles up as having another function! I don't think I've commented on this build before, but I've certainly been following the updates with great interest.

She's definitely a beauty, and one you should be proud to own. :)

Fabulous!
I'm just wondering how the Galliformes are going to get in and out... :)
Not to mention where are you going to put the egg box?
Inquiring minds want to know...

I was picking on him about this; said once he had his TARDIS done, he'd have to build a chicken coop.  But I spy a missing lower panel on the assembly.  If you were a BBC electrician, that's how you'd power the lights, but maybe in this case it is a way for chickens to get in and out...

I have nothing to add, except that it looks bloody fantastic!

I thought I would share some updated photos with you guys, first my girlfriend found a neat looking phone at a yard sale 2017-08-26 23.45.02.jpg it's not accurate but I like it.  Secondly I built a pretty basic roost and some laying boxes 2017-08-26 23.44.13.jpg Then I put hinges on one of the windows for a little more ventilation 2017-08-27 09.39.17.jpg oh yeah I also built the pen 2017-08-27 09.38.56.jpg2017-08-27 09.38.24.jpg2017-08-27 09.26.26.jpg2017-08-27 09.25.18.jpg it was a fun build, all together it took about four months and towards the end I ready to be finished. The TARDIS can be seen from the road and I've seen folks stop and take pictures, and a few have come to the house and asked for close ups. I can't remember how many times I've been asked "where did you buy that ",then I tell them that I built it and they say "you should sell those ". Ha ha, one was enough for me, thanks again to all of you guys for sharing your knowledge. It wouldn't have turned out so well without all the help from this forum.

That's a brilliant build & possibly one of the most unusual uses for a TARDIS we've seen on TB as well!

Anyway, we all know Chickens are actually alien beings of superior intelligence because Jon Pertwee said so in "Carnival of Monsters." (Although he might have been mistaken!!)

Well done!

Fantastic build, how long did you let the pressure treated lumber outgas before painting? I've always thought it needed a season otherwise the paint never really bonds well to the wood.
It's always a matter of time...

Volpone

HA! This is the build where I thought he'd decide he couldn't figure out how to adapt it for chickens and wind up building a TARDIS *and* a chicken coop.  Happy to be proven wrong. And the phone is neat.  If I can ever find an excuse to build a console, since I no longer have the little red Radio Shack phone from my freshman year in college, this would be an excellent choice for a TARDIS console as well.

my lumber off gassed for about a month before I painted, so far I don't see any issues with paint adhesion, the main issue I'm having is wood movement. The pressure treated plywood started to cup across it's width 2017-11-11 13.37.48.jpgand some of the screw holes that I filled with wood filler are pushing the filler out 2017-11-11 13.40.57.jpg on a lighter note one of my hen's likes the phone box as a perch 2017-11-11 13.46.57.jpg the wood wasn't completely dry,so as it finished there has been some significant movement.
