The auction folks setting up for WhoFest in May asked about a sonic for the charity auction.  This one took a couple days .auction1.jpg
Solid stock (1 1/4") was cut for the body.

It was lathed free form just kind of shaping itself, trying not to duplicate something I had done before.  Flats were milled for the controls.
auction3.jpgA scrap of thin pigskin was stitched to the handle for a grip, after knerling the middle.
auction4.jpgA glob of blue glass was ground in a diamond grinder to make a long cylinder for the nose.

auction7.jpgThe glass was epoxied in and a plastic plate cut to hold some little snap action buttons that make a nice click.
auction8.jpg A rubber Oring and steel finel finish the tail end.  A little heavy, but study.

I like that a lot. I'm sure it will be a hit at the auction!!!!

The people at WhoFest informed me that the charity auction brought a total of $6500 for the local PBS station (which shows old Dr who episodes).  Don't know what the sonic went for, though.
