So its time to start building the old girl. I've gone for the Capaldi box because at the moment its my personal favorite Tardis.
Also I should think that I'm one of the youngest Tardis builders on this site being 16  :P

I've been wanting to build a Tardis for quite a while now but i just never got up the courage to do so but now the balls started rolling and i cant back down now .
i asked a couple of people who have already built the Smith/Capaldi box which plans they used and they were helpful enough to let me use them, in the end i went with the plans that PMC kindly gave me (if you haven't already seen it i would recommend checking out his build) so i printed them off along with the other plans so i could have a variety of options.
i will be building it in the garage that had to be cleared out for the space
Also the wood has been ordered so it should be delivered sometime this week which will be when i start the actual build.

Well I'm looking forward to see what you have in store. The Capaldi box is also a favorite of mine so I will enjoy this build a lot more. I wish you luck with your project and also have fun.

so look what materialised at work, it looks like a Tardis made by ikea.
so far I've only got the wood to build the base, corner posts and the ply for the sides because i don't want to get too far ahead of myself,
i also have more wood at work that ill be taking home tomorrow.

Can I just say that is brilliant?

I love the Chameleon Circuit (Which has utilised the Chameleon tours logo - Someone really knows their stuff... :D )

HA!  I didn't even get the Chameleon Circuit joke.  I'm not as clever as I think I am.

So the build begins.i will be building it from the bottom up so I'm starting with the base first then the corner posts. Each side is made from 2 planks of tanalised wood so that it wont rot. these are glued and screwed together to get the thickness.

The wood for the base is all cut to size.

They will be glued and screwed together like this

Gluing the base parts together. all the photos so far have been taken on my phone so thats why some of them will be sideways, sorry.

woops this screwdriver doesn't work on wood does it

all four sides of the base glued and screwed together before cutting the chamfer along the edge and mitring the corners.

so i have put the angle along the edge.

and i have also put the rebate in it so that the floor sits flush as seen here.

i should think that these will make a pretty strong and durable base as they are some quite hefty chunks of wood.

Bren, check out my post here http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=5617.msg66621#msg66621 for help with posting photos. The blue letter paragraph is the one important for anyone using a mobile device to take or post photos. I hope this helps.

All of your really important photos (the ones showing some of the assembly and the finished cuts) posted upright and look just fine, but the above should help you out with further photo orientation issues.

Brilliant work so far!

Yeah, it wasn't until I'd finished the base square on mine that the scale of it really hit me, also.
Wait until you get the walls together, and you'll see what you've gotten yourself into lol.
