Quick tip:
If you use a white primer it will take more paint to cover, and any scuffs or paint chips will really stand out (as they have on my build).

A darker coloured primer may be better with a dark paint.

Thanks for the tip, I already  have 2 cans of grey primer so I should be ok there

not a very exciting update but all 3 walls have the uprights and horizontals on now (or rails and stiles whatever you call them) and the walls are all put in place. and any holes have been filled.

tis a good sight to see when entering the workshop

Working late?

It's looking fabulous! Though quite strange with the windows not cut out...

It is more like a wardrobe.

The British and their magic cabinets.  ;)

I have cut the ply down and i already have the uprights as i cut them at the same time as the rest.

the doors will be nearing completion soon.
All of the horizontals are cut and ready to go on, the top and bottom horizontals on both doors are gluing as i write this.

In this pic everything is just propped up in place so the horizontals aren't in their final places.
IMG_8619.JPG

Tomorrow all of the horizontals will be attached then the side and back windows will be cut out.

the windows are out :D
its really starting to look like a Tardis now that they are cut out.

(the doors aren't attached yet, i just propped them up in place)

I'm not going to cut out the pull to open sign bit until I get to that stage

this is all the wood that makes up the window frames
IMG_8631.JPG

I've decided to mitre to corners on the outside bits of the window frames to give it a more uniform look
IMG_8640.JPG
IMG_8639.JPG

to attach the outside frame i left a bit of the plywood sticking out then cut a rebate out of the frame pieces so it's a lot stronger and it should stay straight

they are all glued up in place (bleddy glue gets everywhere)
IMG_8659.JPG

this wall is now pretty much complete all i have to do is attach the bit that goes down the middle and then the paint shall commence.

the walls have been fully assembled now and the doors are nearly there, there's only a few little bits to do to them like filling holes.
the signs on the doors are only temporary paper ones that i printed out to see how it looks.
IMG_8661.JPG

i think the front windows are the best looking ones.

i guess its "prime" time for an update
yeah I'm not good at puns but anyway the first wall has its first coat of primer
the window frames will get a coat of white undercoat before they're painted white

well i have done a surprisingly large amount recently.

first up, all of the walls are now primed and ready to become blue.
secondly, I've cut out the the part for the pull to open sign.
I've also cut out the notches for the door hinges on the door and made some parts that are attached to the corner posts for the hinges to attach to but silly me forgot to take pics of that didn't i  :P

i did however take pics of the walls and door so here they are.

all the walls primed and stacked up out of the way
IMG_8685.JPG

and the door with a big hole in it
IMG_8684.JPG

today work started on the roof construction as well
IMG_8682.JPG

i did put one of the walls up to see what its like
IMG_8679.JPG

phew, now thats out of the way i need to get your opinions on something.

im planning on making the windows out of one piece of white acrylic and tinting the necessary parts black this means its easier to make waterproof and to get the textured effect on the 2 bottom corner panes I'm using some stick on textured stuff, so I'd like to know if its close to the real thing.
I've looked through the reference section and i just want to get a second opinion.
