Little bit more of an update.

Over the weekend Tony and I were finally able to meet up and finish the central columns...

And this is how mine currently looks now I've got it home...

To be honest I'm really pleased with how these turned out. and the clear cylinder sets them off really well...

It looks quite nice in the corner of the room, all lit up; however it will look even better with a Console wrapped round it...  ;D

It's strange how the ubiquitous bottle of Heineken seems to turn into a console part way through your (our) latest post! Perhaps the Chameleon Circuit really does work after all!

Hey! I've not posted a comment on this board in years. I've mainly been lurking and just keeping my finger on the pulse! After seeing this I just had to break my silence! This (these) Time Rotors are, by far, the most outstanding I've ever seen of this type! You've certainly excelled and shown off true craftsmanship! WELL DONE!!! :D

Nice to see you back out of 'lurk mode'! I'm hoping Steve will post the video he made of the columns side by side. The twins both twinkling together really did look like something out of the Gallifreyan Tardis Shipyard! (I somehow doubt Mr W will post the photos of him wearing my velvet jacket and Inverness Cape - then again, he might prove me wrong; it wouldn't be the first time!)

it's not likely to win the BAFTA for best cinematography, but here's a nice short video of the two columns together...

Wow the motion on that little console is so smooth! I wish I knew the secrets!

And don't those large central columns next to it look lovely too!

I also now want a cape... thanks Steve and Tony.

OMG!  That is terrific, unbelievable. I'm not a Pertwee console fan but I will be having that on my shelf. Even there are two of them, how many do you need, lol :P. But I mean why have one when you can have two. Am I right? ???

And I thought I went nuclear after seeing the photos of the results of all that hard work. Now I see this amazing video of "the twins"! Speechless; absolutely speechless!

I seem to be having difficulties with the forum only working intermittently for me at the moment so, I'm not sure if this reply will work:

There will be two identical Pertwee Consoles (twins) - one for me and one for Steve W. Steve and I are working together to make both Consoles and the next thing on our joint agenda will be to make the various controls which repeat on the various panels - slider switches, main levers, secondary levers, handle levers, etc. I'll be creating the 'masters' for each and Steve will be producing the moulds from which the 'repeats' will be cast.

Because Steve is an electrician, each switch, lever, meter etc will actually 'work' - there'll be no paper meters on our Consoles - and Steve will also be motorising the central columns!

So, a joint effort to build two Consoles; one 'up North' and one 'down South'!

Without wishing to de-rail Steve's thread, the mechanism for the 1:6 scale Console is a smaller version of the plans here on TB and was made for me by a highly skilled friend of mine.

The Inverness Cape cost £750 (ouch) and was made by a firm of tailors in Stourbridge (who specialise in garments for Undertakers of all things!); it's made from black Barathea and lined in purple satin with a black velvet collar. The jacket is red velvet and is nearly fifty years old (I simply added the black trim). The shirt is made from white silk.

I'm sure he won't mind me saying, Steve is into his 'keep fit' and so is a slim 40-something year old (whereas I'm a not-so-slim 50-something year old) but, it was still a good fit for him. As Steve commented when he tried on the outfit, it's heavy but very comfortable - like the late Jon Pertwee, I like the best of everything!!!

Well, apparently not absolutely speechless!  ;D

Hi guys, I was hoping to get more information on the materials used for the lights. I see you state a LED was used and you made your own holders. What kind of bulb is it exactly and how much heat does it put off?

Blown away and so jealous of the craftsmanship on this board.
I want notes, lists and answers by the time I finish this here Juicy-a-Box! WARNING: I am Thirst-ay! And it is Fruit Punch! And it is Delicious!"

Also the addition of the Heineken in about every picture is a nice touch <lol>

I have to agree with karsthotep on this one; I'm completely astounded by the insane levels of craftsmanship on display here! :o Bravo!!

I think it's fantastic how two members are working together to produce two consoles, combining their respective skill sets to create something as magnificent as this (and if I remember correctly, you both live in completely different parts of the country?)
