Another 'new' Glasgow box has appeared - bringing the on street total to 6!
This is in the middle of Sauchiehall Street, just near the junction with Renfield Street.

And wonderfully, it's looking splendid in its original Glasgow red colour...

Restoration looks well done - the windows are mostly original Crittal by the look of it, apart from the one above the phone panel on the front, which is a slightly later replacement.
That, and the slightly odd door lintel makes me pretty sure it's the box that used to sit 'in need of restoration' in the old Transport Museum at Kelvin Hall, but which sadly didn't make the move to the new Riverside Museum.

I'm going to have to update my 2011 article on these now!

Again well spotted it is indeed the former MOT box that GCC did not have space for at the Riverside site. Just two more left then they are all on display somewhere in the UK.

Hi Ward,

Great to hear two boxes still to come - hopefully they can appear somewhere else in Glasgow - and thanks for keeping this box red!

I've just seen on Facebook that apparently this box has been removed due to street works taking place.

From the comments it looks like Ward wasn't informed about its removal, which is frankly shocking.

Hopefully it will be put back once the works have finished, but they will be going on for 40+ weeks.

This is fantastic, and truly heart-warming.   I feel the need to get a cheap-train to Glasgow so I can get all close-up&personal with it.
