Welcome to the TARDIS Builders Family, wyzzero! Now that you're out of "Lurk Mode" (or as you put it "Skuik Mode"), you'll find loads of support, encouragement, and advice from members here. You can also get the occasional assistance with getting hold of some bits and pieces one can only find in the UK (and sometimes the US) and having them shipped to whereever you are, if those bits aren't available in your area and you can't find a seller or company that will ship to you. And of course you'll also find some friends as well.

When you get a chance (if you haven't already), please do check out the http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=6011.0 post; it has good advice on many things, and a few links to free PDF downloads (file formats that aren't supported by the Forum software so we can't post them in our http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=77.0 section, like the TARDIS Builders Workshop Manual in case you ever decide to build a TARDIS for the little one as well - more on the Manual in the link), and other issues, like why some photos look upright when you view them on your computer, but end up sideways (or upside-down) when you post them on the Forum. (A shortcut to that one is http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=5617.msg66621#msg66621 and the blue letter paragraph is the important one for photos; that's also linked in the Helpful Hints post.)

The Plans section I mentioned above is mainly for TARDISes, but since you're building a console, you'll find loads of ideas on how to assemble things in our http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=30.0. Lots to look through there. (No "Console Builders Workshop Manual" yet; I think it's because there are so many variations that each console would need its own Manual! But I think you'll find enough things here to help you along, and that includes help from members if you get stuck on something: how to make a part, how to attach one, where to find something that looks like one or what the part actually is, etc.)

And I see you're already asking questions; that's great! Never be afraid to ask a question, no matter how trivial you think it is. Someone will have an answer for you, or know where to find it. (As my Uncle used to say: "The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked because it never gets answered.") And as you've probably seen during your "skulking", we... love... photos! So once you've started building the console, please create a nice Build Diary and post lots of photos for us to ogle over!

There are also several members here that know exactly what you're going through with your little one - such as myself who has a grandson that's 10 months old, and another member whose little one recently celebrated his first birthday. So yeah: now is the time of pulling on anything - even hair - to get those legs to stand up. (Beware; it's only a matter of days, weeks if you're lucky, before something lures the Time Tot into those first steps. In our case it was the wife's mobile phone; now he's almost running from one side of the pen to the other.

But this thread should really be in the About The Members section since it's mostly an Introduction post. (Mods, would it be possible to please move this into that Section?) Then, wyzzero, you can go into our http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=7.0 Section and start a New Console Build Diary to ask any questions you need to, as well as discuss the issues of your console's central column and how you want it to operate. (The discussion would be better there, and this thread, once in the About the Members section, should do away with those red letters near your avatar placeholder that will keep reminding you to introduce yourself.)

Anyway, welcome once again, and good luck with "growing" your little one's TARDIS console!

Dino.
