Farringdon Street at Charterhouse Street

This is another Post along the City Boundary.
I'm not sure if its on the Street Island or off to the side.

It's on the island. It's the small dot just to the left of the P in "PTP", and is a little off the centre line of the island.

A glimpse of the PA3 in 1973 --



Photo was taken of the traffic after an IRA car bomb exploded outside the Old Bailey, 8th March, 1973.

Note that the 1939 City of London Survey has the Post marker centred a bit further north, at what would be the northern end of the Lavatory island.
Looking at an extract from the (partial) 1937 OS map (1:1056 Scale), it's clear why --



That's an above ground urinal on an island before the underground Lavatory was built. The AP1 and AP2 were likely sited on the other tiny island just north of it.

By 1953, this is what the layout looked like --



The Post isn't marked, but it was likely resited to the location pictured above (at the north end of the railing around the northern entrance) when the underground Lavatories were built, probably by about 1940.
