After my recent encounter with the Liverpool Street CoL Post, I started wondering if we have a list of posts still standing.

I feel tempted to make some site visits and get some up to date photos and detail shots :)

I've known about the Piccadilly Circus box for years....

So that makes two that I am aware of... Any advance on two?

  • Liverpool Street

  • Piccadilly Circus

In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

I have a full accounting on my Flickr Site.

06) Victoria Embankment
07) Northwood Police Station (MP)
08) Grovsner Square (MP)
09) Queen Victoria Street

I've just noticed something. I was looking for a thread for the Piccadilly Circus post.

Is there a difference between Police Posts and City of London Police Posts?

Those marked in Starcross' list above with an "(MP)" are Metropolitan Police Posts, so are in a different section.

The rest are all City of London Police Posts, with a vastly different history of both hardware and siting. The final versions of the City of London Posts resembled the Met Posts, but were a bit different in certain details (being a later, slightly simplified version developed by the GPO from the original Met design for use in the rest of the country and in replacing the aging PA1 Police Pillars used in the provinces from the early 1930s).

Currently most Met Posts are in the general http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=127.0 section, but I'll probably end up consolidating them into the http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=136.0 and leave the other section for more general Post design and historical details, and for those Posts situated in the provinces (other than Glasgow and Edinburgh, which also have their own sections).

The City of London Posts (and soon Boxes ;D) are all here: http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=139.0

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up. Sorry for my misuse of the term in my original post :)
