Thought this might be of use for anyone building a Hartnell or Pertwee central column in the UK (not sure if they send worldwide).
This is the cheapest supplier of acrylic rod and tube I've found. Plus if you spend over £30, then you get free delivery!
The sizes are metric but close enough...

Not sure if these guys would be good for the column cover, though. The largest diameter tube I was able to find was 100mm (3.95 - call it 4 inches). They would be great for the Pertwee-pre-"Five Doctors" Davison eras for making the light tubes inside, but you might have to get color filters to make them green or red as they only seem to come in clear.

The prices, though - really can't beat that!

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting the outer cover of the column, just the innards.
With regards to colour tinting of the 100mm tubes for the Pertwee column, this might be of use.The light green transparent film would be perfect...

Ive found that air brushing thin coats of Tamiya X25 (Clear Green) works really well. It takes about 4 coats, which uses up 2 bottles, but at £1.44 a bottle its really cost effective.
