Besides Professor Chronotis' console (there is a reference thread for that here http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=3449.0), there is always one of the smaller consoles that could be built full-size, but because they're smaller consoles they might fit in the space you have available. Examples are the Season 14 wooden console, which is very simplistic as far as controls go - a bit more complex in the overall design and detailing, but it's a small console at only about 3 feet or so from point to point of the hexagon.

Then there's the more intricate "Junk Console" from the episode "The Doctor's Wife". That console isn't much larger than the Season 14 console - maybe 4 feet from point to point, but even that could be narrowed a little and still look good. There are references to both of those here as well.

http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=2813.0 - The "Junk Console" from the episode in this thread's title.

And then we have some original designs of consoles that only measure about 3 or 4 feet point to point:

And if you really want to stay with a 4-sided console, there are some other consoles like that which you may be able to use for inspiration and some ideas:

I hope this helps.
