The prop gallery has put up for sale the original 2005 time rotor and column -

Details gleamed from the description:
- Damaged and replaced in the first season due to all of the lights being left on during a break
- Images show it placed upside down due to the damage to the base
- 7mm heavy duty acrylic
- column 18" diameter, 86" tall
- time rotor sections are 39" in height each

Wouldn't that be nice to take home?   It was listed about a year ago and posted here at the time.  The only problem is that they want quite a bit of money for it, in the thousands.  Admittedly the perspex cost a bomb just as parts but you'd think hard about it before splashing out.    It it didn't cost $5k just to ship it over to me I'd look closer...

Some of the images didn't post, so I thought I'd lend a hand:

This is a great image. You can see the alternating sizes of the tubes as they're placed around the disc. You can also see the place on that top disc where that odd piece of this that was auctioned off separately a few years ago is supposed to be (the flat rectangular part with the round bulge in the center - it's posted on here somewhere).

This is a nice image showing the placement of the "fins" on the outside of the column cover. It also shows how the alternating sizes of the tubes interlace with each other inside the cover.

(Jeez! Just look at all of those dangly bits - wires and things. I'm glad they cleaned it up some before actual filming!)

This is a beautiful shot of the Series 1 version, before the gyro repeater moved to that metal mesh panel (and shoved the "switch panel" - the one Tennant loved to pound on with the mallet - off to the side).

As for the damage being caused by the lights being left on during a break, this occurred during the filming of the minisode that took place between the end of "Parting of the Ways" and "Christmas Invasion". The console was designed and wired to be lighted with normal household lamp light bulbs, with colored filters to give it that "ice green-blue" glow to the panels. However, during the filming of that minisode, some over exuberant stagehand decided to replace those standard bulbs with high-powered halogens. The heat generated by the halogens not only damaged the column, but it also caused several console panels to melt and sag. The worst ones were replaced, but the panels that weren't too bad off stayed, and you can see where they sag if you watch the subsequent episodes closely. (I would imagine that stagehand was also replaced after this for making the production staff have to spend all that money replacing the bits he damaged by installing those halogens!)

This would be a great relic to have in one's collection, but at the asking price of £8,495.00 (that's $12,172.49 US at the current exchange rate)... WOW! And a big "ouch" to the wallet!
