You can't possible have too much reference material!  ;D

I know its filmed in some annoying fisheye fashion but is there anything useful from the Maisie behind the scenes footage worth capturing? I certainly found the part constructed doors and back lighting method interesting.

Also, is it my eyes or is the console room lit brighter at the end when Clara and Me have amazingly learnt to pilot it? Seems to look like it in one of the grabs previously posted.

Question I have to ask is....

The Console from Adventures in Space and Time (or The Bradley Console, if you prefer) had certain things that didn't match the original...besides the labels.

However I've noticed the same signatures on the Hell Bent Console

3 bulbs instead of 5  and the red thing between the two heavy duty levers on the left is too small, making the lower left of the console panel seem bare.

So its got me wondering. Was the Hell Bent really the An Adventure in Space in Time console with a coat of paint and no labels or was it  a separate built to the same specs as the Adventure Console, thus prevent the fuss of part sourcing?

Either argument has logical explanations but Id love a definitive answer.

Ideas , chaps?

We know the console was the An Adventure in Space and Time console, borrowed from The Doctor Who Experience and repainted. The rest of the retro set was original and didn't use any of the An Adventure in Space and Time assets.

Thanks Vale

I seem to recall the roundel size was more 70's-80's style. Hence a scaling issue.

Is the console at Cardiff now white or is it green again?

Rumor has it that once it returned to the DWE it got its green paint scheme back. And those lights weren't the only thing missing from the console in AAiSaT. On the panel with the two large meters separated by the movement sensors/telepathic circuits (which I believe is labeled Panel 4 in Tony's outstanding drawings of the original console as it appeared in Season 1 back in 1963), under the right-hand meter and even with the top of the metal strip with the knobs on it there should be a large knob (the same kind used for the Primary Levers - a.k.a. the Mat and Demat Levers) with a backwards L (see Tony's drawings for that one: this post http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=5884.msg79399#msg79399 and the one just above it of the actual prop up close and you'll see that knob and the backwards L with it).

So, besides answering your question on the color now that the console is back at the DWE, you are quite correct in that it is not completely accurate with the original prop from 1963 - I'd say 85 percent or so accurate. (And I hope this was helpful.)

I'll let you konw... I'm planning a return trip around June/July time ;-)

Oh, Steve, you lucky dog, you! Even my daughter, The Evil One, got to visit there when she spent that spring semester at Uni of Bath a few years ago. Somewhere in here (not specifically this thread, maybe, but on the Forum) there was a recent discussion about some parts of one of the consoles and a wish for better photos of it, and frack me if I can remember what they were now! :P Maybe between now and June/July someone will remember and let you know so hopefully you'll be able to take some photos of - whatever we were talking about.

Most certainly has Dino.

I was aware of other differences  compared to the original console and I'm most certainly aware of Tony's extensive work (Bravo, Sir! Bravo!)

What led me to consider this was this console has been replicated several times on Second Life with at least three vendors offering  a Hell Bent console. What's most interesting is one offered a version of the Adventure console compete with labels and SOME of the differences the as seen on-screen.

It was looking at another replica where I saw the maker had used details off the HellBent and Adventures, specifically the labels and the three bulb configuration. My initial conclusion was that the maker had mixed sources,using the one at Cardiff. But then I looked at the screengrabs and i'm thinking Hmmm...Maybe I@M wrong.
And Then I see labels on the Hell Bent.

I think it is back to being green, suggested from the upload date of this image of it on flickr: https://flic.kr/p/Eu9Rnv

You can tell it's been repainted back to its blue/green livery by looking at the lining of the collar - it was black in An Adventure in Space and Time, white for Hell Bent and is still white at the Dr. Who Experience now:

Well, going by the screen grabs (and I know some of these are in the Reference section, but I can't find them... because I'm looking):

BrachackiConsole(UnearthlyChild).jpg
Grab from "An Unearthly Child";

BrachackiConsole(WebPlanet).jpg
Grab from "The Web Planet" (yeah... I know it's small, but it still shows the one detail);

inferno-console2.jpg
Grab from "Inferno" - the last time the Brachacki console had screen time;

It definitely shows the interior of the column's shaft was painted the same color as the rest of the console, and the "Inferno" one proves that thanks to things being in color. (I'm surprised no one at the DWE noticed this, and I wonder why the BBC props guys didn't return the console to its original condition when they gave it back to the DWE.)

Just a few extras from the recent bluray release of Series 9. I'm pretty sure I can't see a console in some of these pictures...vlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h19m00s816.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h19m06s388.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h21m30s157.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h20m30s320.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h13m08s578.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h19m25s827.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h19m31s438.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h19m58s017.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h20m06s281.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h23m53s147.jpgvlcsnap-2016-04-19-02h24m19s157.jpg
