Revised plans are uploaded:
http://www.doctorwhoscarf.com/drwho/brachacki.pdf

The only major change is the beveled base (estimated dims only) and the return of the top views (dims not yet labeled).

I'm starting to think the fresnel lamp might need to be larger. As drawn it's about the size of one you can actually acquire from a hardware shop (6" x 6"), but in some photos the original one looks enormous.

    Lespaceplie,
Good work on the plans.  I hope to see season 18+ soon.  I started a 3d virtual build in Solidworks from your brachaki plans. Let me know if you are interested in the work i am doing in Solidworks. Thanks greg

I'll be quite pleased to see the 3D build to test things out. About 10 years ago I used to do renderings myself, but I'm rusty.

To get started you will need to go over to the Solidworks site. That is www.Solidworks.com and download the solidworks3d viewer. The file is about 19 meg in size and i think it is only available for   the windows operating system.   This software will produce 3d part views , subassemblies , assemblies , accurate detail prints and bill of materials.  I work primarily in the metalworking industry , so working in nonmetal design is new to me. I hope more members will get involved in this project.  I think it will be quite interesting.  The solidworks viewer is free.  We will only need to figure out how to share the files. Thanks greg

Lespaceplie,

Wanted to pop in and say thanks your plans where a great help with the start of a scale model I am working on.

I have been working in AutoCAD on a 3d model of the Brachaki Tardis and it was great to find plans that where clean.

I'll post images when I get them online.

Here are some renderings of my 3d AutoCAD Model.

And a more exciting pose

I realize the signs on the side are not compleate but I am still working out some of the maping issues. And besides I can always say it was the one from the unaired pilot.  ;D

Thanks for the kind words.

I am just starting down this road. I plan on moving form AutoCAD to a scale model. It would be some time before I could do a full size build as I don't have the space for it.

The back ground is Orion as seen from Hubble. You can get some great stuff from just a google search.

I have run in to one questions about dimensions. Are there plans that show the depth of things. I was working off the fact that lespaceflie's plans are 3/4"=1'. This worked out great except when I modeled the tops of the columns I noticed that mine where going to be further out from the face of the roof edge that shown in the plans. I assume this is because the face of the wall on my model are set further back from the edge of the base than are on the drawings. I have notice that the dimensions for elevations are easy to come by but it seems that the depth of things are less well known.

Thanks

Rob,
Absolutely great work.
I wish I knew how you guys do this type of work.
I would love to learn, but don't have engineering degree. LOL

Anyway, superb work!!!!

Jon,

I don't have an engineering degree either. I am self taught. I work as a set and lighting designer and picked  up a copy of AutoCAD LT about 7 years ago and have been plugging away at it ever since.

Actual this is the first 3d model I have done that I have gotten a feel for the whole process. I have lots of incomplete models in CAD that I am not happy with.

Ok, I have now figured out what my problem is.

I had read somewhere that the length of the sign box was 39". This dim is not noted on Greg's plans. when I build the model I use that dim and found I had to move each wall in 1".

I just checked the plans and found that the sign boxes are drawn at 41". That would account for the 2".

So can someone tell me what the actual dim of the sign boxes are on the Hartnell prop?

Thanks

Rob
