Thank you sir.

To be fair it is the ONLY 3D modelling program I have ever used.  So I don't know if other programs are better/easier to use or not.  And I have only been using it for a couple of months now.  It IS very limiting on things I would LIKE to do with it.  But hey it was FREE, so I am not complaining.   It has allowed me to exercise my creativity in the TARDIS arena, so I have been less creatively blocked lately. ;D

I know what you mean, I am LOST without pencil and paper.  But it was only getting me so far.

I would love to help you out on realizing your dream console sir.  Anything I can do to help.  ;D

Well the yellow areas on the panals are SUPPOSED to be brass plating but it was the best Sketch up could do.  LOL!!!!   Other than that I have been trying to keep it mostly metal and grays with the controls.   I wanted a few splashes of colour in the panals to draw the eye but mostly I wanted the controls to look realistic.

The green circuitry bits do give it a more colourful look than I thought it would, but I like it.  I wish I could get them to glow in my drawing but I don't have a way to place light sources.

OK.  So, I am about 75% done with the controls.  I have about 3 fully done panals and 2 half done panals and 1 panal that I have yet to start.   SO I thought you kind folks would like to see my progress thus far.

Here is panal #1...

First shot sans controls:

Well it has been a few weeks since I posted anything substantial.  I was fiddling with the components today and decided I would do a test fit just to see what everything looked like together.   Still got loads to do on the console itself, BUT it is getting there.   Here are a few pics, enjoy!!!!

For some reason I've never looked at this thread before today....

WOW!!!  I'm just blown away!

Absolutely stunning work!  I hope that one day you'll import this into a 3D animation program that can do photo realistic rendering as I don't think SketchUps rendering does justice to the work you've put in.

There are free 3D programs out there.  Blender is one that comes to mind.  It's tools are less intuitive than SketchUp, but the output is MUCH nicer.  I'm sure that you can find other free ones if you look.

Thank you sir.   I have indeed worked long and diligently on this project.   I have a few more items to tweak on the console itself and then it will be done and I can import it BACK into the console room itself.

If it looks anywhere near as good as it does right now when I complete it I am seriously considering learning a photo realistic program to see what I can make out of it.   The ONLY thing I haven't been able to get the hang of is making a sphere.   I watched the tutorial for that bit but I just can't get it to work for me.

I am very glad my work is appreciated and I look forward to hearing more from you.

Keep watching this spot.   ;D

Wow...
loving all of this... I am planning similar(ish) girder detail for our Fan film console... Love the thre slider controls very star trek transporter... again something I have on my console design (in my case as demat controls) - well consiatency between technologies  ;D

Are you planning to build this console?? It could be fairly easily be achieved ok except for the time rotor/ central column...
