I'm nearly done with the next panel (the one on the right) Just need to make the handles. I think that after that, its pretty much going to be all made (i.e. just need to copy the relevant bits).

Ah yes... I've been thinking about that and isn't that also the thing that Troughton puts onto the console towards the end of episode 1 of the Mind Robber - when (to quote adric, also) he takes them "right out of time and space"?

Do you have "The Beginning" box set? A grab would be good so i could try to emulate the wall scrawl

Edit: IIRC Hartnell and Chesterton bend over the console (ooh er missus) to have a look at the offending broken spring. That makes me think that the metal object at the back is a bit too far away to bend in any sort of easy way.  I think we're definitely talking screengrab time to confirm this or prove that I'm talking utter bollards

My pleasure.  BTW, Billy uses a wee penlight torch to examine the switch, if you squint just right you can just about see it as the NS Sonci screwdriver....   Hah, you thought you felt geeky!?

Those screen grabs are fantastic!

I can make my model even more accurate now, the fast return switch itself looks pretty crap and basic compared to what I now see in that pic

And the half painted bulbs (and their screws) have more detail than I have put in... I think I can also improve the 2 speaker grills.

Any chance of some grabs of the other bits around there if possible from that scene?

Grr, stupid internet ate my last (incredilby long, amazingly informative and remarkably erudite) post  so here is the quick version:

Not much else to see in those sceens Marc, just a few more frames of the same.  Have gone through The BEGINNING DVD set and made a few more caps mainly of the Radiation Detector seen at the start of The Daleks, and a grill with switches from AUC.  How gorgeous was that console in the first few stories!?   Looks like all the lights and functions were controlled by on-board switches too, classic, that was probably the highpoint of console functionality for the next 20 years!

Wow, here we have the first indication of a modification done to the this console! Is it our first entry in the evolution of this prop?

Is it my imagination or in the 10th picture down are some of the levers (in the background) made out of clear plastic or glass???   Also one of the switches seems to have to switches in the same switch plate.  The one in the fore-ground.  Just going by what I see fellas.

Huh, would you look at that!  Never noticed this before. - the cap is from AUC, where the Doctor locks the doors and sets the ship in flight - it's about the only shot of the controls in that episode. Can't say (pffhand) that I've ever seen anything on that panel except the hooded lights since, perhaps it was wholly replaced early on?   Odd!!

hmm, must check the pilot episode too for console shots...
