Like the replica of the Brachacki TARDIS prop, the Scanner/Fault Locator reproduction is an approximation: close enough to get the general idea across but some details may have been modified for a number of reasons including physical requirements for the production, visual impact, and the budget requirements/restrictions.  There may also be details that might've been forgotten/missed, depending on the reference the production had to had when designing the replica set.
