Hello,

New thread time --

A couple of people from my previous thread have asked me to share some of my other work here with the group -- So I am starting this thread not only to show my pieces but to encourage others to share there recreations of sets or props from the 60's era --

First up, I will start with one of the first recreation set's I did about 5 years ago --

PotD Guest Room Day Dark.jpg

This is the guest room or examiners room from the Power of the Daleks -- I know a few others have done this set in the past (and at least one is currently working on it (RassilonRod)) --

Here is a more recent update I did to this piece earlier this month --

I will be adding more pieces over the next few days and as always --

Enjoy

Ah,  I see you've rebuilt the lamps. Very nice work :)

Your finding of the drawing and profile really did help out -- Have you done any lighting updates to your set lately --

Well there is time for one more quick update for the night -- Here is another part of the Power of the Daleks sets that I did work on a few years ago --

PotD Rocket Room Color.jpg

PotD Rocket Room Dark.jpg

This is the Rocket Room P from the fourth episode (if I remember correctly) of the six -- This is shown with the lights really turned down, I will have to look at rendering one out with more lights on one day --

expendable

wonderful room, I like the furniture and the shadows, very well done.

Rassilons Rod

Not yet. I'm still working on the Lab and a Dalek to put in there to help with scale.

I think when I'm done with the whole thing, rendering one frame is going to go up to a couple of hours. I really need an extra HD so I can install maya on our media PC.

Another day and time for a look at one of my favorite pieces from PotD, the Jail Cell or Holding Cells -- What I like about this set is the unique style for the bars they used --

When you look at other sci-fi series or movies of that period, they mostly used either clear plastic doors or lights to simulate a force field --

I like to think that the style of this set could easily be redone for modern Who and I think it would be interesting to see --

I love the detail on the cages, wonderful design work. Nice work on the grill floor plates too. Love the color but the gray is great.

Those are some serious renders, oslm! You do magnificent work. And I have to agree with expendable; your color images are amazing, but those B&W versions make me feel like I'm looking at a still from the episode, or at the very least, a still from what could one day be an animated reconstruction of the missing story. Well done!

Thanks so far for all of the comments -- I think I will switch it up a bit and show you one set I did earlier this year --

Macra Terror Mine Color.jpg

I happen to see a behind the scene pic of this set in an old article about missing episodes and was able to determine that it was from the Macra Terror -- So I couldn't resist trying to remake it --

The color one is bright, I love the look of the walls with the rough brown surface and the grain of the boards, and the arches. The shadows are natural where the boards meet the arches. Great marble floor!

The grayscale is so much darker, incredible contrast here. The light seems more intense in the shadow. Both look so great! Wonderful work!

I love the textures in that last one :)

Thanks as always for the comments guys --

This is one of my favorite pieces to date and hopefully I will be able to expand on it one day --

I have a few of my older set pieces I am going over and doing some small updates to and when they are done, I will post some images

Way to long in between updates for this thread -- So after a being down for a while (I've spent a few weeks doing a much needed systems update) and I have gone and done some new renders --

This set piece is one that I started a few years ago and use to take a very long time to render out -- Now with my new system it only takes 25 minutes and allows me to do more in camera effects --

Cam 2 Test 1a bw.jpg

But this is only a small part of this massive room, so here is a little bit more for you guys to look at --

Control Room with Area Light 6 BW.jpg

Still there is a few more things to add to this piece but I have to say, I am enjoy my new system a lot --
