Hi Primrodo

I've actually attached a cross beam to the poles at each end and then screwed that to the base.
Ive done this on 2 sides - left and right.

Hi All

Well I've started a wall. Got the ply cut to size and have started gluing/screwing the paneling on.

The first photo has some bizare perspective going on makes the wall look 20 ft long.
anyway I've tested the sign panel out and it is a perfect fit.

Cheers

Shane

Hi All

Another update, the wall bug got me and I had to keep assembling and even painted 1 coat.
Need to fill screw-head holes and do the dreaded routering.
The wall is assembled separately so I can push it in and out and remove to do more work on.
Some rain is predicted tomorrow so I might take it out and do some more work. Hopefully work and children permitting I can aim for 1 wall a fortnight.

Cheers - Shane

Oh yes, this is looking absolutely superb.  I'm really quite getting green with envy with all these wonderful TARDISes that are springing up these days.

I really like the first shot there - it's coming along like a treat!

Hi All

Thanks for the kind words regarding the build.

I'm searching the shelves for the right rounded centre divider, unfortunately there are standard timber differences throughout the world. In Australia standard timber trims are 10mm thinner than the UK, so I may have to get larger ones and get them cut on a timber yard saw and then a bevel cut into them.
The centre piece for the door trim will be a standard Mushroom stop (T - section type trim) attached to the centre edge of the left door. The one that is on the wall above may come off or go to the back of the TARDIS.
I'm trying to establish the type of rounded edge on the centre pieces by pouring over many actual prop pics.

If anyone could advise what they used I would be grateful.

Cheers - Shane

Hi All

I've worked on wiring in a powerpoint and plugged 1 Fluro light and the flashing beacon up.
The photos were taken at sunset, a full night shot would look even better.

That's looking stunning, it's going to be a gorgeous box when she's completed!  Keep going, and I hope you're feeling proud of yourself with what you've accomplished so far - you should be!

(Of course you could leave her as is now and have the very first TR2 TARDIS gazebo... ;D ;) )

Hi All

2 walls down!!  And I've routed them, found it harder getting the edges square after routing than actually using the router. I've got a new plan for my windows, I'm going for thick clear perspex with a frosted film on the inside, I am then going to screw the window bars onto this from the back as perspex can be drilled. Hopefully this will work.

Should only be a couple of weeks to go now!! My sons 4th birthday is in 3 weeks so it will be good to have it finished for his party...

Cheers - Shane

VERY nice Shane!

I hear you on the corners though, what a pain! routing took seconds and the corners took much longer.

Great idea about the windows, less likely to have the frames fall off thats for sure!

I am also quite jealous of your routed frames and posts...very nice work :)

Coming along very nicely Shane. Perfect for a party as well. Tell me are building the doors and walls for a tardis quite straight forward or difficult?. Seems a little tricky to me in some parts.

Hi Avadh

The walls aren't that hard really, just glued and screwed from behind, making sure to alternate and spread out the screws to avoid the timber opening up, then some water tight gum into the joints and many coats of paint. I'll probably put another 2 coats on all the walls nice and thick.
The doors on the other hand need more pre-planning as you have to deduct some mm for the hinges, and a join in the centre which is traditionally 5 mm in say double wardrobes for example, anyway thats why I'm doing the doors last so I can practice on the other non sighted walls.

Cheers - Shane
