Tom, thanks again. (Like your R2D2!)
I'll be working on cutting the headers tonight.
I will need to cut out the hole for the sign boxes next.

Anyone, should I put my cladding/styles together first, then anchor them to the wall, or attach them to the wall as I go piece by piece?

Well you will see in the Builder's Manual that Glen did the former, but I was too scared that they wouldn't match up with the backing (i.e. wouldn't be square), so I did it piece by piece.

Tom, you said it!  That is exactly what I was fearing.  It almost seems like the hold build is not exactly square, hence my difficulties yesterday.

Did you use liquid nails or wood glue behind the cladding/styles to attach to the ply, then screw the frame work from the back side of plywood through to back of the styles?  That was my plan!  What do you think?  Tom, once again thanks!  ++Karma to you.

Jon

PS - Tom do you have a thread with your build?  I looked, but did not find one!  Just wondering!

That's exactly what I did... with Lepage's Outdoor quality carpenter's glue... seems a bit stronger than the normal quality.

No thread here, as I was pretty much done by the time this new forum started up, but I do have an album on the Image Archive (I've since removed half the pics), which can be found here!

Cheers Tom

Worked on 3-step header today.Very tricky - you gotta watch them fingers.
Overall not bad at all, just a few small glitches. :o
Glen -  Thank you, thank you for the manual.  BIG, HUGE HELP!!

Also, I could not imagine doing this build without a table saw, kodos to Time Girl for her work with only a jig saw! ;)

Hey guys - thanks for your words.

Chris - I will finish the cladding/styles on the walls.  Next will be the doors and then onto the sign boxes.  The doors shouldn't take me more than part of a day.

Tom - I would have never known you cheated with your header after looking at your build archive.  Nice work!

Cheers,
Jon

Well done Jon, Keep it up.  Just looking, is your garage roof going to be  high enough to fully assemble the box, or will you have to move it to put the roof on?  Hard to tell from the pix :)

K9 says hi :)  Hopefully he'll be mobile this weekend.

Nathan, you are absolutely right about the height of my build.  I will have to take it outside for the fitting of the roof when the time comes.  Your K9 looks great.  Give him a treat and can't wait to here when he goes mobile.

Cheers,
Jon

It's really taking shape DrIz - fantastic!  :D

I cheated on the three steps (like Tom) and used strip wood. So respect to you for making them in the true TARDIS builders manual style.

I'm looking forward to seeing more!
Cheers

Karst - don't worry buddy.  I figured you must be busy.  I look forward to talking with you soon.  By the way, I like your avatar.  How did you ever make it?  :)

TG - long time no hear!  I hear you about the weather.  It's been quite hot and humid on this side of the pond as well.  I was cutting out my windows and building my headers during a bad heat wave.  I must have drank a liter or two of iced tea!  Anyway, glad to hear your comments always.  I look forward to seeing more  of your progress as well.  Both you and Tom have done an excellent job with your headers.   ;)

Cheers,
Jon

Jon,
Your build seems to be in a holding pattern.   Summmer months got you real busy.  Weather seems to be improving a liitle here in ohio.  Anyway,  I just wanted to post and give your thread a kickstart.  Cheers, greg

Greg, thanks for the 'kick start'.
Some personal things here at home have slowed me down a tad.

My work has been very busy lately and the humidity has been horrible enough to have deterred me from working on my build.  This weekend is going to be my first free weekend in a few weeks. I hope to get a lot done and will hopefully have some  new pics to post.
So far, I plan to finish the styles (cladding) for the walls.  Get my doors cut and mounted this weekend..

Anyone with recommendations on the number of hinges I should use for the doors?  I am thinking 3 hinges on each door.   ???

Sign boxes are next.

Cheers,
Jon
