Looking good there.

I don't know what Pull To Open sign style you have in mind, but the original prop and the Police Boxes had a font that was near identical to each other and that was "Perpetua" - I think that's how you spell it.  If I were to make a sign in the way you describe, I'd get some translucent white acrylic and then have the text as a laser / plot cut vinyl overlay.

Just a quick update on the build showing some close  ups of the detailing on the corner posts & caps.20mm quarter round quadrant was used on the corner posts with 10mm used for the caps I`m quite pleased with how they have turned out :) You can also see the lamp housing in some of the shots,as yet unfinished details to follow in a later post th_DSCF1170.jpg

Greetings, stand by for todays gripping installment of the Apprentices tardis build. Todays photo update is of the progress so far on the lamp housing. As you can see I still have the dome to do STILL undecided if I will cast in plaster of Paris or try and find a sphere of the right size to cut down

Apprentice, whatever you decided on in terms of your dome, please do share.  I am still not exactly satisfied with my particular dome.  I think we need something that is about a 1/3 of a sphere.  There has been a suggestion of casting fiberglass from a kids ball.  I am not sure how to do this, so if anyone has any idea please do share for us.  You are really moving right along.  Nice work!  Keep the compass pointed toward the Stella Artois...lol :)

Cheers,
Jon~

NOTE:  If we use 'ball cocks balls' then I suppose our TARDIS's could serve as flotation devices... :P  I couldn't resist...KB!  I am going to look at these at the local hardware supply tomorrow...

Thanks for that Jon,no decision as yet .I haven`t done any fibre glassing before don`t know that I have the confidence to do that  :-[ If I do go with the 1/3 of a sphere I was thinking of casting it in plaster of Paris & water proofing that.I will keep you all updated with my decision of to the shops tomorrow to buy four candles & some ballcocks ( as per the the two Ronnies sketch  ;D )                                                                                    Ps thanks to whoever for the extra karma point  8-)

Hi Apprentice
Yeah, it's annoying when unnecessary things like work get in the way ;) Have a karma point for realising that LOL.
PS the other point was for admitting to wading through my ol' thread 8-)

Yea it's brilliant site with brilliant helpful, knowledgeable and friendly people. Nobody seems to fall out or anything like it, and that is so refreshing especially considering how passionately we feel about these boxes and other things!

Your build is superb. The Hartnell box is my favourite and looking at your bigger pictures was a treat and made up partly for the announcement that a 1/6th size Hartnell TARDIS & console has been canceled.

Good luck with the rest of the build and I can't wait to see some more pics!
