You're building yours using the method I originally wanted to employ while building mine, layer upon layer. I was talked out of it but looking at your excellent build, it wasn't such a bad idea after all! Can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks to all for your kind comments, & Pod as to the method of build using layers of ply this was a decision made on the basis that I had a ready supply of materials through my business & that IMHO as long as I use WBP exterior hard wood ply & plenty of paint it should last well.If not it will be a good excuse to build another one ! ;)

This is you can see is the 1st stage of the roof section.Iwanted to make this lighter to aide construction & if I needed to move the Tardis in the future as I haven`t decided where it is going to call home yet ! ::)So the next stage was made using 12mm for the vertical faces & 9mm on the horizontal faces . To make sure that this stage could take the weight of the 2nd I added some bracing that I think is quite attractive, not strictly authentic but hopefully none of the you guys will disapprove ! ;)

It'll give it a lovely period feel inside, quite in keeping with the historical nature of both police boxes and TARDISes.

Looking good so far!

Back to the diary then ! Pictures showing next stage of build the 2nd step of the roof including rather neat idea I had for the lamp housing that will become clearer as the build progresses (if it works  ::) ).Like many Tardis builders I had a LOT of trouble with getting the angles right for the roof panels but after a lot of head scratching & practice cuts on scrap timber I FINALLY got a join I was happy with which needed a minimum of filler.Again to keep the weight down 12mm ply for the vertical faces & 9mm for the horizontal again internal bracing to stop flexing around the joints. On each level of the roofs there is a raised lip so that the parts line up properly & when completed  but before painting a bead of decorators caulk (not a spelling mistake ) will be run around the join to stop any weeping of moisture,I hope well thats the plan at least.

Apprentice - looks like you're a pro-wood worker mate... You are building at lightening speed and getting fantastic results.  I am eager to see this all assembled :)

Cheers,
Jon~

I really like how you've done your roof - light, sturdy and looks good on the inside.  Impressive.
