Help and advice needed - please.
I did read the TARDIS builders manual (it's been bedtime reading for weeks) but the problem is me, I can't lift large sheets of ply and I'm scared of circular saws.
So I decided to make the doors with inset panels of Ply wood and to use a wood beading to secure the panels and give me that angle/chamfer of about 21 degrees (and the doors are not too heavy).
But the panels haven't got that sharp edge because the beading is slightly rounded and now I'm worried that it might look neither police box nor TARDIS.
This is just a taped together door (there is rather a lot of glue and filler on the other one).
What do you think?

hey tg, it is pretty sad to it it dismantled and laying on its side like that. congrats on the new house and new location for your tardis. i'm sure the people who are in your old house must be disappointed that you took it with you. i hope the hammer damage isn't to bad

Fantastic TG! I hope you can enlist The Master to put it back together again - no hammers allowed! :)
Just a thought - if it's under a tree I hope it's not the kind that drops sap. I parked a car under a row of those in London for a whole week a few years ago - when I went to get it, it looked more like an Absorbaloff than a Ford.

cheers
Chris

It's such a shame when you put so much effort into building something, only for it to end up on its side in sections where no-one can see it.  At least you know it'll be put back up again and I guess this may give you the opportunity to fix up any little niggles you had with it or address any damage that it had received previously.

Mind you, needs must and all that - I know you didn't want to leave your TARDIS behind at your old place, even though the new owner wanted to keep it for himself.

Good luck with the rebuild anyway.

Round these parts, I'd be more worried parking a TARDIS under a tree about spiders getting in. For those in the UK, google "huntsmen".

Huntsmen: big vicious buggers...
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

Spiders ?spiders?  how come we're talking about spiders in my build thread, LOL (actually I'm fine with spiders the only creepy crawlies I really hate are Cybermats)

Anyway, Thanks Guys, it's great to be back TARDIS building.

Hi emil, The hammer damage isn't too bad, well not as bad as the damage to Mr TG after I saw his handy work  ;)  And the people who moved into our old house did want the TARDIS but I just couldn't let her go.

Demat  :) yes 'the Master' has been roped in to help me rebuild - I wish I could do it myself but the sides are too heavy, I built it in small pieces and it was dismantled in big lumps.
Thanks for the tree warning, It will be under a 40' spruce tree. The TARDIS placement negotiations took so long I think I'll have to stick with the agreed site. "looked more like an Absorbaloff than a Ford" lol, it's a scary thought, especially if it had a Bolton accent!

Hi Purple! I know you understand the frustration of having a TARDIS on it's side where no one can see it! But as you say, it will give me the chance to give her a bit of an upgrade.
Saying 'her' makes me think...are all TARDIS female?
Cheers  :)

"There's a hole in my TARDIS! Whats a hole doing in MY TARDIS?"

"Its for the tracer rod..."

;)

*cough* sorry about that :)

TG, I'm sorry to bring arachnids into your thread, and I know you say spiders don't bother you ... but what if they were dinner plate/Metebelis sized, obscuring your St John's sign entirely? I'm a massive tough bloke who fistfights with multiple sailors down the pub and benchpresses small cars (well, not really), but I hoist up my nightdress and prance around squealing when I see a huntsman.  :)

Spiders as big as my St.John badge? :o Blimey! They would be considered aliens here and UNIT would be called straight away!
I think on reflection if we had 'huntsman' in the UK I'd be packing up my TARDIS and moving to another country.

Crispin said it's probably not a good idea to post the same build story on both TR2 and TBF, which I understand....so I'll do an abridged version here ;)

Today birthday

TG,

It is so good to see your TARDIS materializing and pehaps good old DT will pop out for a cup of tea and some scones.  Yummy! :)  I have missed seeing your TARDIS.  I am glad your getting the ol' girl back together.  She looks incredible.

Happy B-day to you as well.

Cheers,
Jon
