started the roof today and i desided to go with uniformity sgn boxes set out about 2 inches then its 2 inches till the end of the posts, so i'm gonna keep using those measurments on the roof, this means that the second step will be 4 inches high to accomadate the post attachments on top of the first step it will have more of the look in that first image in the post above which i think will be more visually pleasing.

this how my roof will set. it rests on top of the sign boxes and the tops of the posts lock it in

this is where my next step will rest

hopefully tomorrow i'll be able to get the next two steps done and i'm getting my signs made next week

Nice build.

Looks like you have a pretty substantial box there!

here is the latest progress on my roof.
roofframe2.jpg
if your gonna do your roof the way i did mine cut the ties a little longer than what you need compound miter joints are tricky. i need to thank my dad here he showed me a lot yesterday
roofframe.jpg
i thought this might be the best way to go for a strong and light roof. no word from my sign guy yet....

Atomicgraph this is looking wonderful its really coming along very well. Is it based on the season 18 tardis or a real policebox.

thank you, at this point i don't know what my build is based off of. when my wife and i decided to build a tardis we were gonna do the 2005 box, after i started i wanted it to look more like season 18 box, it's evolving (or devolving depending on what way you look it). i talked with my sign guy last night he's looking at next week.

well i got my roof finished this morning. building the roof was really the most difficult part off the build so far.

roof01.jpg

i had some pretty large gaps i was hoping for none but i'm not that good of a wood worker. this is the only thing i've built since i was a kid and then i only made skateboard ramps. over all i'm pretty happy with the way its turning out

i started on the base today (the last piece of the puzzle) and wouldn't you know i cut every board to short to do a 45 degree cut >:( . my friend is coming over this weekend to paint it with his sprayer so i really need to get it built.

howdy yawl, i made my lamp fittings and placed them roughly where they are gonna be

lamp-1.jpg

then it was time to prim.

its kinda wild to see it as one color even if it is white.

the paint sprayer made this easy. thank you jason for helping me out!
now that i see it outside i think i may have built my roof with to much of a pitch... i dunno it makes it look longer which helps out the over all appearance since i had to make it slightly wider to accommodate our tv. my signs were supposed to be ready today but i never heard from the sign guy, as long as i have them for next week end i'll be happy. we ran out of day light so we'll be putting on the blue tomorrow. i got a darker shade of blue for the base color and i'll do a "watered down" wash with the old blue to give it a faded look. i'll put pics of that up tomorrow.

Atomicgraph thats a lovely looking box you have made yourself. I particularly like the white box photos. Mine was primed in white as well. I actually like the white look and think they should all be that colour. It would end the debate over which shade of blue. Or would it?....
Mmmm is it frosted white or pepper white??? No it's its arctic white of course.
