No problem.   :)   For pics ou don't need the who html code thing just put theurl of the image inside IMG tags like (with no spaces) [ i m g ] pic [ / i m g ] - easy  :)

I like your build by the way, looking forward to seeing it come together even more

does anyone know a good thread about building sign boxes? i've kinda mocked them up but i'm not entirely happy with what i'll end up with. i'll probaly let my son get started on the paint this week. i'm thinking of going with a dark blue for an underbase with a lighter shade of blue over the top to give it a faded look. any suggestions on the color for the bottom coat?

hello again. i haven't had to much time to tardis build lately but i'll be back at it hopefully during the weekend. the heat here has been in the 110's. i got some primer and the bottom coat of blue paint also the lumber to finish the doors, yep i've got big plans but i've got to get her finished august is slipping away. i don't have any new pics to show of the build but here is what i'm gonna use for my signs [noimg]http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z215/atomicgraphics/tardis%20build/police-box-signs.jpg[/img]

That's a different look.  Normally "Police" and "Box" are a bold font, not a black font.  If you wanted to go the new series route, the font used is Gill Sans Regular.  "Public Call" is also Gill Sans, but is extendended by about 125%.

i based the first sign off of the codsteaks model i pulled an image off the net and what i was really looking at was the way the "c's" curved  back around instead of just stopping (like the gil sans font), but it doesn't really matter i don't think any one would mistake it for anything but a tardis when its all finished :)

i got to work some on my build today and here are some progress photos
4signs.jpg
i finished off my sign boxes they turned out better than what i expected every thing fits snug and they slide up and down the posts pretty smoothly.
makinga2step.jpg
at first i was going to build a 2005 box but i just like to many elements of of the older boxes the little 3 step under the sign boxes for one, so i decided to incorporate  some of the things i like form both boxes into my build. i couldn't do the three step because that would have thrown off my measurements at the top so i made a two step instead this also covers any gaps between the sign and the wall it will also make a stop so the doors won't swing forward (when i get around to building them)
the2step.jpg
here is my two step it slides down the post into position no bolts or screws

this is an inside shot

tardis2step.jpg
and this is how the 2 step looks attached. i'm very pleased with the way that turned out
wall78.jpg
ahhh one complete wall (the only one to date)
tardisparts.jpg
and here she is back inside the shop. yep every time i work on it i have to assemble her outside then take her apart when i'm finished (just not enough room for the build inside the shop)

Tips on doing the doors...hmmm
Build the doors just like the wall panels except cut down the middle when all the pieces are on and ready. Then put the centre piece down (the thin piece of wood) Build a 3 piece frame, attach it to the posts, hinge the doors to it and "make sure you have enough room for the doors to fit in". Don't do what I did and screw it in before checking to see if the doors fit first. There's lots of photos on the board that should from other builds that should be able to help you!
I used Futura Book for my sign boxes, that's what I thought the New Series one was. I used all that black ink! DAMM IT!

well i got a little spare time to work on my build today.
routedpanels.jpg
i routed my panels on the walls, maybe a little unorthodox but i do like playing with the router.

panel.jpg
i think it'll give the box a nice little touch
paintedposts.jpg
i started priming all the pieces and hopefully tomorrow i can put on the first coat of blue
primeredwall.jpg

and also start on the doors.

take care all :)

i also decided to use a "flat" paint to eliminate any glare during photos

nothing but bad luck to day  :'( i started on my door frame earlier this week then made the doors using biscuit joints, everything lined up nicely until i put it up on the posts to be marked. i was an inch and a half to tall. plus that layer of paint made all my sign boxes fit to tight, so tight in fact that it scuffed the paint on the posts (i don't know what i was expecting). i guess i need to stop working so erratically, and focus on getting one thing done at a time, and measure twice and cut once.

...and also to top it off i'm sick so i took a little rest and a thunderstorm popped up and rained on my build.

there is no way this'll be done by sept 7th (again i don't know what i was thinking).

When I started my build, I was sure that I'd be done within six months.  I'm closing on two years at this point.
