Here are a few snaps... a sneak peak if you will ;)

The suspense of the windows all in place is driving me batty... I have to wait until the paint cures before I do much more.  Sorry, to inundate you all with repeat window progress, but I could not resist to share my joy! ;D

Well, I could not resist these snaps.  The window are all mounted and complete.  I just need to mount my 'Pull to Open' phone panel and then mount the signs when they arrive.  There may be some fine tuning, but she's basically done!

Once the signs are in place, I'll share my thoughts about the feelings that are stewing as the build comes to end.  More to come...

Quote from: geminitimelord board=build thread=140 post=17519 time=1224166098Few questions bud,
The Perspex I assume that was clear and then you sanded?
Your sign boxes, to get that little lip on the inside where the sign goes did you use a router for that?
Back to the windows, where did you get the little tabs to hold the perspex in place?Scott

Scott, the answers in order: 1) yes, the persex was clear and I sanded both sides.  2) I used 1/4" square wooden stock that can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes.  The square stock will be next to the rounded dowels they come in 12,24 and 36" lengths. A router would work, but the corners would be round and you would have to chisel them to make squared corners. 3) tabs are called glazers "push points" any hardware or DIY will have these.  This is what held glass in place in old 'sash' style window panes.  I hope that helps.

Karst and Scott - the watch dogs with K9 abilities are on watch, so BEWARE OF THE DOGS....LOL! :o :P  You guys are welcome anytime to visit.

Every home needs a TARDIS.
Once the signs are in place she'll be complete!  Yahoo! :o

Update to all those waiting so ever patiently... Here's the skinny on the TARDISy Police Box.  The weathering is now complete.  The colour looks phenomenal, the ol' girl just came alive.  The signage is the only minor set back.  They are ordered, but had a little set back on pricing, the company wanted to double the costs of the perspex. A new vendor was found, and I am hoping that all signs will be here in a few weeks.
It is getting harder to wait, but young grasshopper must learn the virtue of patience...LOL!  The excitement is overwhelming.  I am refraining from posting any further photos until all signs are in place.  More to come... :P

Cheers, Jon~

Hi everyone!  Well, I could not hold off posting photos of the weathering job that I completed a while back any longer.  I had planned to wait until the signs were all in place, but there as been a significant delay, but word came today that signs are nearly ready.  I should have all signage in place in the next few weeks to compete my build officially then it's time for preparations for a NST build...

Oh my, the Doctor has regenerated.... :)  This is my daughter Genevieve... She loves the TARDIS and so does Jacob standing in front of dismantled TARDIS doors.

The latter photo is the view that my neighbors have of my garage/workshop with the TARDIS in the far back... I am the talk of the neighborhood at times... ;D :P

That is one hell of a smart looking build and the weathering just seems to bring it to life.  Nice to see it almost done.  Have you got any pebbled "glass" for those lower outer window panes yet or are you opting out of that?  Either way, you're teetering on completion!

Looking brilliant, Jon. I can't wait to get to the weathering stage myself, really sets the thing off!

Crispin, Purp and Demat - thanks for the comments... I am eager for the signs to be in place.  I should have them in a few weeks.  I have seen photos of the top signs and they are fabulous.  I have basically two sets of top signs, both have white letters, one set will have a black background and the other will have a navy blue background... The door sign is just about finished.

Crispin - your words are quite fitting as mentioned above.  It's a privilege to be part of this forum and thanks for having me here as well.

Purp - "hell of a smart looking build', absolutely mate... You know it!  Thanks for help so the build could look so great... As far as the pebbled glass, I will have search for a source on that, if I can find it, I will certainly place the pebble glass in the windows...

Demat - the ol' girl really did come alive with the weather and the paint colour changed a bit giving it more of the 'TARDISy' blue.  I started with the weathering process on the front, I should have listened to Crispin on that one, the front seems a bit over weathered and the sides turned out very nice nice by my eye.  I am eager to see your build complete as well.

Jon!  The weathering really does bring the box together!  I loved it as the flat blue, but with the added depth of the weathering this is smashing!  Great work!

Stay tuned....
I am picking up my signs today in Buffalo, New York...
I should have them installed later today and even back lit too.
She will be done!  OMG, nearly 3 years to complete this build.
I can hardly wait.  The trip for me to Buffalo, will only take 1.5 hours to get there.  It's a nice day for a drive!!!!!  Sign, signs, everywhere there are signs, but have been waiting for mine and they have arrived... Yippee.

cheers,
Jon~

Okay, the moment has arrived... :'( :'( :'( :'( :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D 8-) 8-)
but before the tears form, I must show you my signs before they are placed...
I ordered them in late September 2008 and picked them up today on March 21, 2008... A long wait, but very well worth while ;).
I am very grateful for all the help that I have received from various forum members for their assistance, so THANK YOU!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-) 8-)

I ordered two sets of top signs:  Blue and Black vinyl background placed on white perspex.  The fonts are a hybrid of the Met Police Box, with the 'Public Call' reduce in size to give it a touch of TARDIS.  I liked both colours for the background and wanted to change it out from time to time... The door sign is NST in terms of background colour (silver) with black vinyl letters, however, the font is different, it's the 'original' Met Police Box font.  I wanted the best of both world on this build.  If anyone wants to know the exact name of these fonts, I can get that, but I don't really know the answers specifically at this time.  I had a lot of help in this area...:)

The next post will be a handful of photos, I could not help myself...

cheers,
Jon~

Here are a few pics of my lighting for Karst and Demat per request...
Sorry it took so long!

The fluorescent lights actually powered together with a connecting cord, great idea, only one receptacle plug required this way.  The one photo shows the connector cover which is where they link.

The 'flasher' unit pulses for 2 seconds on, then 1 second off...
The bulb is an 'oven' bulb. I wanted something that had a reinforced filament that could stand the heat in the closed in fresnel.

This is what happens when you build a TARDIS, you can pickup your signs months before you even order them...   ;)   ;D

I love it!!  Gorgeous!!

I love the door sign - wish I had that on mine.   :D
My pilot's license? That's out back in the Cessna. Or perhaps you're referring to my license to kill. Revoked. Trouble at the Kazakhstan border.

I could give you the details but then I'd have to kill you, which I can't do because my license to kill has been revoked.

Ah glass hopper! Monkey mind gets the better of you! You must spend more time in quiet contemplation!

Seriously though, that's a smashing build - I'm glad you didn't make us wait. :) The really impatient among us will photoshop the signs in!

Quite a marathon build... the finish line can't be far away now.

Thanks for taking the time to put together your diary here!
