Hey everyone! This is a Console Room I have been working on that blends elements of most of the other Consoles and their rooms while being most heavily influenced by the most recent (2013) console room! Enjoy!

What a fun console room! I like how you showed us the various stages! Will you be putting up a railing? The walls should be very interesting!

Looking forward to seeing more!

Looks Fantastic!

I have an idea, that is usually a bad thing  ::)

Perhaps you could experiment with making the inner hexagon a 2005 style metal holy one??
Actually, maybe not. Idk.
I love the look of this though, the throwbacks to the previous consoles are great.
Keep it up, i am really loving this already!

Thanks for all the great feedback, everyone! Any suggestions are certainly welcome! More eyes and a fresh perspective never hurt! Here is a bit of an update: Im adding the outer set of Girders that connect to the wells down Below Deck (and further down, too, but that's for another update ;D)

These are the upper Girders and where they connect with the well up top. In there will be a diffused light panel to provide ambient light

A close-up of the top well and the diffused panel and the Upper core that runs through the center. Here, I based it off a fuse with the metal caps and the glass core...

And finally, a nice wide shot:

You can see the lines that will eventually be the walls with the roundels and whatnot, as well as a nice cross section of the Below Deck, the Main Deck and the Catwalk levels as well as the two sets of girders and the core assembly!

Enjoy everyone!

I love your layout and framework, it's very impressive!

In the secondary console room I'm building to hold my McGann console, I've been forced to keep the roundels simple as my system gets sluggish with the fancier ones. Before you put your roundels up, you may want to save a copy of your work file. Hopefully you have a much better graphics card!

FloppyDiskNinja

This is looking amazing. I lovit  ;D

beautifully complex!

but yet simple at the same time!

You seem to have almost created somewhat of an ultimate console!
I hope you are having as much fun making it as I am viewing it!

Expendable got me thinkin' on roundels now LOL! A very good suggestion, and I'm hoping I won't give my computer any extra headaches in incorporating too many...

Here's what I'm thinking:
Screen shot 2013-07-19 at 5.46.27 PM.png

The frame will be made of the same metal as the struts and supports and will pretty much just be that hexagonal "doughnut" shape so I can pop it over features on the wall. The blue strip on the inside will be a strip LED to illuminate the interior and I'm toying with doing the same on the outside edge (Here:Screen shot 2013-07-19 at 5.47.04 PM.png) to give a neat light effect when they are tiled together (about 1" or two apart). Like so:Screen shot 2013-07-19 at 5.46.12 PM.png.

The white dome in the center is one of those round in-wall speakers to provide covert sound sources throughout the console room. Also, on a side note, the little domes on the console itself are these little dudes: 61iu42uwcyL._SL1011_.jpg They, in conjunction with the speakers on the walls, and the ceiling and the subwoofers, will provide a very nice, visceral, immersive experience for the "pilot".

I do like them.....

Thanks guys!

FloppyDiskNinja

Those are some interesting hexal-roundels.
The speakers are a great idea, I would love to plug my ipod into that console!
You should ad some subs  8)

But seriously, those will fit in very well with the console room you have created.

That's a beautiful design for your roundels! Very nice!

The white dashed lines you see on the edges of your hexal-roundels are the default-colored reverse faces peeking through. To fix that, I select the faces and use the right-click / reverse faces command to show me the back side, which I then paint the same color as my fronts.

I hope that helps!

a TARDIS with 360.1 surround sound!!  ;D  I like it!

small comment and it is your TARDIS to design how you like but roundles historically tend to be stacked up/down and not left to right. My original design had them going left to right and someone pointed this same fact out to me. Once I changed them to an up/down configuration it suddenly felt a lot more TARDISy to me (Is that even a word??)

FloppyDiskNinja

TARDISy is definitely a word, at least on here it is  :)

HalfwayToGallifrey

LOL Most definitely! And Rob- you are TOTALLY right! Thanks for the awesome tip!

HalfwayToGallifrey

Just playing around some more- Some roundels will have the speakers in strategic locations for a good sound, but all the others will have the Fresnel lenses a la 2005!
Screen shot 2013-07-22 at 5.45.07 PM.png
Since these will be self lit, I'm thinking of only doing the outer edges lit so it'll give that mutable, fluid, changeable aesthetic to the roundel-ed walls of the TARDIS.

Here in grid-
