Final TARDIS Rotor/Whirligig Symbols

A BBC segment featuring Prince Charles and Camilla touring the TARDIS set features a camera pan at the end showing a pretty decent rotation of the top of the console:

The resolution isn't great, but it might be of use.

As I posted in http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=4779.msg54484#msg54484, I think we've found the three remaining symbols to complete the set of 18 that are on the whirligig the doctor who2 hasn't managed to ID yet:

Missing Symbol 1
MissingSymbol01.jpg

Missing Symbol 2
MissingSymbol02.jpg

Missing Symbol 3
MissingSymbol03.jpg

Since there are allegedly 18 sides (or should that be "panels"?) to each tier of the whirligig, and the doctor who2 has recreated 15 of those symbols as best he can so far given the resolution of its images, these are three symbols that he hasn't done yet, bringing the total to 18.

Hopefully they will be helpful, and a huge THANK YOU! to Kingpin for posting those photos in that other thread, as well as the link to the video clips.

The spot in the bottom left should be solid.  Also I think the inner ring should be closer to the outer ring. Notice how it touches the top double circle with the cutout with the tops touching each other.  Oh heck, I've got the bug to do my version of this. ;)

This symbol needed a bit of tweaking. It looks like it has at least two thin black lines (circles) outside of the thick main circle. This necessitates moving the small circle (at about the 4 o'clock position) out a little. Also the thick black line doesn't go all the way through the medium circle at the bottom (at about the 4:30 position), and the arc in that circle should be a bit smaller and more circle-like. And it really doesn't look like there's a black circle on that thick line running from that circle to the smaller one deeper into the symbol. There is also a thin line at the top going from the straight edge of the hexagon to the outermost thin circle. And the hexagon itself looks like it should be smaller; it should just touch the top of that 4:30 circle with the arc inside it, which would pull the open circle near the 9 o'clock position in some, away from the thick main circle. (See tweaked symbol below and compare it to the one above, and then the one in the yellow circle.)
RotorTop17a.jpg

I couldn't alter the size of the hexagon without having to completely redrawing this, and this one wasn't easy to tweak with the primitive graphics app on my Mac (I really need to find a copy of Adobe Illustrator that I can afford). It would have been easier to redraw it with the graphics program on my PC, but for some reason using IE on the PC I couldn't log into the Forum. It kept asking for my username and password - in two places - and still wouldn't let me log in, and it also wouldn't let me see any posts without logging in (which is sort of good; it keeps bots out), but I couldn't grab this image from my PC. Funny thing, though, on that log-in problem... even though it kept asking for my username and password and wouldn't let me see any posts, it did know who I was because it said in large bold letters at the top of the page "HELLO GALACTICPROBE".
(As we said in the military: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over? ???)

Anyway... tweaked symbol as best as I could tweak it: what does everyone think?

Rubbertoe Replicas has released a (lovely) new set of coasters and the text includes a description of Nick looking at the 18 new gallifreyan symbols designed for the new console room and picking his favourites.  And guess what he provides...

Glen, this is fabulous! Do you have a larger image if this? Also, the one symbol I notice that's different in this selection from that on the whirligig above (from one of my earlier posts) is the one in the first column, fourth down in your image. Instead of being vertical as it is in your image, the one on the whirligig looks like it was rotated about 135 degrees to the left from that in your image.

Still, I'd love to see a nice high-res image of the selection you posted, if you've got one. (Excited? Oh yes!)

Sorry, that was the res of the image posted on his website - surely there's better copies in existence but perhaps not on the internet (yet).   WIll keep my eyes open though...

Some of these symbols (At least it looks like them anyway) can be found in the advert for the new TARDIS speaker - on the back of the current issue of DWM.
Doing a quick google search, it looks like some of these are also on the box for it.

Hope this helps somewhat :)

Yes, looks like it:

Still not a clear reference but obviously they're going to start showing up on the merchandise/marketing material.

Unfortunately, since Border's Books went down the plughole of the universe a few years ago, it's been virtually impossible to find any copies of DWM in the States. When I have come across the Doctor Who Insider, it's an Americanized, cut-down version of DWM and honestly, not really worth it. Besides that, the covers always looked different when Borders had them side by side, so that wouldn't do much good anyway. (Don't suppose a scan of that back cover is possible, is it?)

(Still hoping - and looking - for a higher res version of kiwidoc's posted image to appear... somewhere.)

Photos from the set tours are now popping up on Flickr, and there've been some nice high-res ones that show the symbols a little bit clearer.

If only I could get out there with my camera!  >:(

Kingpin, do you have a link? All I'm finding on Flickr are photos of the 2010 Console Room or the "TARDIS Tour" stuff from the DWE. Nothing on the 2013 TARDIS set other than some of the usual ones we've seen already.
