He's still awake!
He keeps popping out of the Tardis and looking back at it "Just to make sure it's real" !!!

His smile is getting bigger, and I didn't think it could.
Thanks again to all who have posted positive comments.

How am I going to top this, someone asked.  I don't think I can.
But I'll give it some thought.....

"Dad, can we call NORAD and ask how long Santa was in/over Perth?"
"How did he park a Tardis here without waking me and Katherine up?"
"How did he even get in the house?"
"Why didn't the dog bark at him?"
"Did the reindeer poo on the roof while they were waiting?"

I love the way his mind works (sometimes)
He has realised that both the Cult of Skaro and the new Dalek Paradigm are now
(effectively) INSIDE the Tardis!

His (yes HIS) response:

Now you see why I love my boy  ;D ;D ;D

Yeah. I've had a TARDIS in the backyard for a couple years now.  I still grin like an idiot when I open the kitchen curtain and it is staring back at me.  So he (and you) will probably be insanely happy for a long time.

Good trick number 2:

The look on his face priceless :D

And the jumping up and down, just so full of win :)

what about the jetpack? lol. that's awesome! I was thinking of doing a similar video materialisation with my upcoming build since it will be an installation. the trick is getting people not to move the camera's tripod between the before and after shots. I was thinking of taping its feet to the floor.
It's always a matter of time...

The jetpack....
Got the plans off the net.
Thought it best to do a test run with a 30kg payload.
Worked fine.
Last seen heading due west into the Indian Ocean.
Forgot to connect the kill switch.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it if he asks  ;D

De-materialisation sequence only needs two pictures.
A good 'before' and a good after.  I just cut out just the Tardis itself from the after shot and then pasted it over the before to make a composite before/after.  then just overlayed both photos with a decreasing transparency.  Matched them up to the gArooo..gArooo sound effect and bingo!

When you do your before shot, just put some gaffer (duct) tape on the floor to mark the tripod leg spots.  As long as you do not change the pan/tilt/angle of the tripod head, you should be able to replace the tripod exactly.
Cheers.

[insert evil laughter] Y'know...  You now have the best punishment ever.  If The Boy ever misbehaves, the TARDIS can "dematerialize" at night and not come back until he's learned his lesson. :D

Hi All,
12 months on and the Tardis is still loved.  My six year old daughter loves the idea of going to bed IN the Tardis each night.
It just does not get old  ;D
So far there have been no requests for a Dalek (thank goodness)

Cheers to all.

I would imagine. You did a top-notch job. Sorry you fell asleep so you didn't manage to do the materialization sound effect to wake 'em up, but you did good all the same.

This place has ruined me on "good enough" TARDISes and I really want to do some work on mine to make it "more accurate".  That said, I still get a huge kick when I make my coffee in the morning and I look out the window to a bloody TARDIS, materialized in my yard.  :D  Or when I'm playing fetch in the wee hours and it lurks in the corner.  (cue joke about how my TARDIS looks best in the dark.)

I think the same could be said of most of us here. We'd all love to go to bed in the TARDIS every night!

Look at the average age of the people building replicas here... it never gets old, and never will!

Be careful... she may ask for a nice round Mechanoid instead! (Then you'd be up the universe without an Eye of Harmony!) ;D
