Decided to ask my girlfriend to marry me and what better way to ask a fellow "WHO" fan then building a TARDIS ring box.  I originally seen the idea from Cerberusrol's http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=3136.0 which gave me the initiative to make my own. Credit goes to Bill Rudloff for the plans and Cerberusrol for the idea. Thanks guys.  I started this project mid August and plan on posting pictures as my build comes to life.  Hope to hear some good feedback, thanks in advance.

Decided to use 1/8" basswood over balsa to keep it more stable.

The wood is soft and thin enough I just used a heavy duty xacto knife to cut.

One of the side panels cut with the back panel next in line

Completed side with window.  The windows were a pain, not entirely accurate with the plans but I'm satisfied with them.

NEXT: I'm gonna be working on the trim on the sides and door.[attachid]IMG_0007.jpg[/attach]

Let me know how you like the paint.  I didn't put a primer on the wood so it came out with this weathered look.  I really like it let me know what you think?

Mark

Nice work, I am particularly loving the paint job. All the different shades of blue really do give it that weathered and aged look.

thanks, i'm pretty happy with the paint job also.  I think different shades just came out from the brush strokes and possibly from extra glue being absorbed into the wood also.  Really happy with it though.  Need to start working on the inside now.

OK!!! Finally done with my first TARDIS.  My original plan was to have the TARDIS hinge in the middle and open the internal ring box when opened. Unfortunately I could not figure out the hinging mechanism for opening both at the same time.  I eventually gave up on the idea of the hinge and went with a removable top with magnets on the bottom half and some small nails on the top half.  I fashioned a ring mount with some floral foam and fabric for a pretty setting.  Hope you enjoy the pics and please leave some feedback!!

Hope everyone enjoyed my build.  I'll be giving her this for X-Mas so I'll let you all know how she reacts!

It looks great.  You're going to need a brig rock to upstage the box ::)
Good luck and a very merry Christmas  ;D

DoctorWho8

Most excellent!  Post a video of her reaction!
