That is a great idea! that way if anything goes wrong - I'll have a back up.  :)
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Wow Mr. warmcanofcoke- this is great looking stuff.  you have some good ideas here and I really look forward to seeing this come together.  I had one thought for your consideration- from the photo one of your green filters- the seasons greeting one looks pretty close in colour to your chrome-key-  it might be sad if you past in a background that also shows up on what is bound to be an otherwise kick but console...

existing stuff.  thanks for sharing

True, that would be an issue If I used the console in that Chromakey -Green studio, but I'm turning my Garage into a Chromakey-Blue Studio, so I can have room for a full console room. (that can be dismantled and packed away when I need a different set .... so, ... it will be Just like Doctor Who in the 1980s.) ;D :D ;)

Thank you for the kind words. I am also very excited about your console, Ontario Canada is only 3/4 hours away by car / negative -10 minutes by Tardis we should write and film a movie for youtube or something.

Hey that could be Cool!

I seem to be planning to do a film with my kids in the near future, but that would be a first for me...  I kinda figured with the chrome key room you have done some film making.... anything you would like to share?

You have been putting some neat stuff on the board- keep it

Cheers

Not really. I have a youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/RabbitWarrenPro/videos
there is a comedy beer review show there - but it isn't really edited... or directed... its more of a webcam show. (something to produce weekly, to show youtube I can consistently produce material etc. 1 night = 15 episodes or something like that.) My father has me working on a documentary to accompany his last technical book. I help record on my friend Beth's projects. And have assisted the Rochester Movie Makers organisation.

I have produced movies for projects that have been edited and directed for classes but I will post them after I have re-shot and re-edited them to the standards that will produce viewers etc. (Don't want to appear to be a perfectionist, or anything .... )
Most of my assignments have been for classes and such. I record improv comedy shows so people have submissions for festivals. As soon as this semester is finished I do have plans for some movies with friends, mostly non specific video game related projects.  I'd like to do something Doctor Who related, and I want to do something with my Star Wars/Star Trek/Stargate/Legend of Zelda friends. There is talk of a classic Doctor Who review show - but I am mostly interested in the original projects... more on that on another forum.

*I will be using my green screen studio more frequently now that I have a wide angle lens.

Actually, on the door control panel (panel 1 if you like), the thee buttons in the bottom left you've indicated are actually toggle switches, not the light buttons.  See the Earthshock pic you posted above.  I think it's two smaller ones on the left & right and a tall one in the center.

Thank you Bill. I'll check my screen captures more closely. I guess I'll have a few extra lights left over.

Never hurts to have spares.  I know this version of the console pretty well.  Made one out of cardboard, duct tape & paint.  Studied paused video tapes for a long time.  I did use the DWM layout as a general guide, but it annoyed me with its inaccuracies in my early teens.

I admire your dedication. I knew it would be very hard, and perhaps expensive, to try to duplicate the controls from any of the consoles. It was part of the reason for designing my own. I am always very impressed with people who focus on a specific console and recreate it. Scarfwearers work almost intimidated me out of building mine. His consoles are so incredible, the level of detail is just unreal. A lot of the parts you're picking look great and I can't wait to see the console.

What are you doing for the "recall indicator" (the clearish pentagon on the console)? I made one out of foam board and then I made a mold. After that I molded it in clear resin. It looks alright, but the lighting circuit I designed isn't bright enough because the resin is kind of cloudy.

Anyway, great work!!!

warmcanofcoke

Thank you for the kind words. I admire that you have started your build already. It looks great by the way. (Also the Fires of Pompeii circuits I keep seeing in your photos. Just fantastic!) I was just at Home Despot looking at some plastic sheets in the lighting department, that have a similar pattern, that might do the job for the Recall Indicator, but the pattern on that particular item had more of a fishnet style than the diamond style on the plastic that makes up the recall device on the console.

I may have to try Lowes to see if they have the sheets I need. I'm sure I've seen that pattern for sale somewhere.

I too, am in awe of the Scarfwearer's achievements - his work inspires me to "give it a try". But you give me far too much credit on focus. I have little shoe boxes with parts for a Five Doctors console, 1996 Movie parts, Pertwee Console parts, and stuff that might look good on .... something. I guess I finally became a pack-rat like my father.

After work I took a trip down to Home Despot and looked around for some Tardisy type objects - here is what I found:

IMG_1167A.jpg
Found this hard plastic ball out in the street in my neighborhood - I think If I can cut the top off I could turn it into part of the power lever (Enlightenment) on the console.

Went to Target and found a better candidate for the pink light on the console.

I got these from Joann Fabrics a while back

and this is an item I didn't get - but saw in my travels - I'm thinking about it- before I buy it. It may be a good lighting option for several panels on the console. I'm going to have a think about it first.

found a video of it on youtube here http://youtu.be/VqQAucJV7Wk

*edit - this bulb only produces 350 lumens - it wouldn't shine through the white acrylic I own. If I wanted to have the color to cycle through a bunch of colors - I'd do better with Christmas tree lights.

Wow, you have a LOT of stuff now! Once you get started on the body of this beast it's going to come together REALLY quickly :)
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.
