I hope they have something similar in the United States. If I manage to trace one down I will give a shout out. Thank You. ;)
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

OK update - I started cleaning up the Garage getting it ready for its facelift. (Need to put my Tardis somewhere) - According to estimates the new floor space should be 16.5 feet by 29 feet.(outside dimensions 18' x 30.5' x whatever the final height of the building will be - we want to add a few feet to the new roof) Hopefully enough room for a Tardis interior.
As I mentioned before I have to pour a new concrete floor and repair the roof and add some insulation to the walls and then add an electrical system ... after all that I imagine building a Tardis interior will be child's play.

I'm still interested in the Season 20 Tardis console room - however I will probably want to be able to redress the set into The Five Doctors Console room from time to time. (it will of course depend on the script that week. - I want to make videos for youtube *also a Season 20 console) to help with my Five Doctors Console room I have some parts for that console as well.

Well you've got a nice selection of keyboards there, are you going to use all of them ? and a few RS switches .
I remember when I was working for Pye telecom and we used to receive the new RS catalogues and the excitement of browsing through them and drooling over all the new stuff they had included,it was like porn for radio engineers Lol,the only other reference that came near it was the TRS aerial catalogue,so how far off construction of the main body of your console are you ?
By the way do any other British members think that warmcanofcoke looks like Phil Jupitus hiding in some bushes.
so let me get this straight,A thing that looks like a Police box standing in a junkyard,It can move anywhere in Time and space ?

Wow! I remember those old Mac computers! I used them to create all of the manuals, handouts and lesson plans when I was teaching Coast Guard electronics in the mid-late '80s! (Aaah... the memories.)

@ type55tardis - to answer your questions. I'm not sure. I'll have to use as many keyboards as it takes to make all the buttons move up and down. So I will be using them under the scrabble tiles to make them move up and down and such as well (395 square keys). Jarrod says that there are 483 Character Keys and 81 enter keys on the Five Doctors Console.

I too have a love of Toggle Switches and paddle switches and rocker switches. I believe this particular switch is the same switch as used on the Five Doctor's Console (it is also in the Apem Catalog:
APEM - H21CG1 - ROCKER SWITCH, DPST, GREY and RS 334-599 - DPST Chrome Colour Rocker Switch, 16A are the same switch.)
if you go to some of the many websites that sell these it will run you around $10 U.S. per switch ($23 if you use eBay) I need an additional 31 Switches .... unless I find a sales lot on ebay that are not going to break the bank.

I can't give you an estimate on the main build just yet because I will be busy with the Garage for a bit - want to get that up before winter.

But I figure an update is good to have - from time to time.

@galacticprobe  I figure 1980s computers for a 1980s console.  ;D

Hey, I see some Yamaha Electone control panels there - were parts of those used for the console? (I've dismantled one myself for pots and switches for a synthesiser project)

I found an Organ someone was throwing away. I decided the parts could become a space ship for a youtube movie one day.

Just doing a little housekeeping.
I still intend to build my Season 20 Arc of Infinity Console.
I am also building a Five Doctors Console.

Today - while other projects dry - I cut some Red plastic for my Console.

I made the red filters 1/2 an inch taller than I need them to be. I figure it is better to trim them later than to not have enough in the first place.

I have cut some frosted plastic to go between the tubes of the time Rotor.

IMG_0627A.jpg

Not a perfect cut - but I think no one will notice when it's done. - the frosted plastic is 20 1/4 inches Tall by 4 1/4 inches wide - 4 inches wide seamed a little small for some reason. the tubes are a little tall so I will have to embed them in the base of the time rotor.

*edit - more parts to the time rotor

a few extras will be left over.

Embedding the tubes in the base should give them a bit more stability - lock them in place sort of thing. It sounds like a serendipitous idea.

Next I'll need to use a router to make the base plinth - I'll need to rout out the places for the tubes before I cut the outer circle. I intend to use clear plastic and then use mirror spray paint to make it reflective. I'm going to have to put in some practice with the router. I also need to track down my Router bits - I have some of them but I've miss placed a few of them. Also - I've never used one before. I have some practice wood - I'll see if I get a feel for using a router first.

I'll probably work on other sections of the time rotor before I start on using the router ....

Have you looked in a Michael's or AC Moore's? The last time I was in there they had plastic mirrored disks in varying sizes from 4-inch up to about 12: maybe even a little bigger (there was no sign for those larger ones so I don't know how big they were, but there were ones at least 12 inches). You could use one of those rather than trying to get a mirror finish with a spray paint. And since the disks are plastic they should be easy to cut with a hole saw, and routered out a bit (from the back so as not to scratch the mirrored side) if necessary. Their prices were very reasonable; I can't remember exactly how much they were, but I don't think they went more than $10 US or so.

Just a thought.

I've seen them made of thin glass but not in plastic at those stores - Plus the disk has to be 18 inches wide ....
in other news -
just found a cardboard tube that was 5 3/4 inches high ans 16 1/2 inches wide ..... so close but just not the right size  ::) ....
