As I currently lack funds and space to construct a full sized TARDIS, I figured I could do a 1/6th version for a reasonable price.
I drew up some plans for myself at full (for my build) scale.

(you might notice the new series sonic that I made in Connor's hand lol)
So on payday I was at Michaels with my wife and I found everything I would need to build it.
When we got home, I got right to work.. I have a metal ruler with marking on the back for working in 1/6th scale.. so I measured with that (mostly) and cut the pieces as I was ready to use them.
After one evening of work, I had this

Another day's worth of work had a little more done

I finished up my weekend working on it, it's still not done but I'd say it's about 70-75% if not more

I still have plenty to do, and yes, I am aware that my phone-door sign isn't accurate, I was working on it and my wife started talking to me and I missed a line.. I'll probably make a new one once the TARDIS is done.

I'll be adding lights to it before much longer but I'm curious how people think I should do the "Police Box" signs.. suggestions are welcome.

yeah, I have that seller "bookmarked" so to speak. I intend to pick up the Troughton at LEAST. I'm not sure how those heads are set up.. but I can manage either way ;)
There is a guy on sideshowcollectors who recently finished a Pertwee as well that I need to purchase.

You're progressing slightly faster than I have been :)

Personally I'd do the signs in the same way as you appear to have done the doors, by overlaying strips of wood until you get the desired thickness, but cut out the sign "indent" on the last strip.

See this part of one of my own model builds:

that sounds like a really good idea.. I might have to give it a try :D
A quick update...
I managed to make some progress this weekend, though not as much as I'd hoped.

This is starting to look very nice indeed. It's got the NST look with the "Fat windows", and I like the colour.

PS Cool kitchen cupboards too ;D

Yeah, I'm going for a cross between classic and New Series TARDIS. I was going to go classic all the way but my wife wanted New so we both got our wish :P

I added two of the Sign Boxes today, probably do the others tomorrow or the next day.

That's an interesting way of making the sign boxes light up.  Have you tested them out yet to see whether they illuminate in a uniform fashion or with a series of hot spots?  Either way, I look forward to seeing the results as I may have to nick your idea!

Actually, no I haven't tested it yet.. but I'll try to in the next day or so and I'll post pics of the results.
The lights, I bought at Michaels after last christmas season.. they were supposed to be for lighting small model towns the only drawback is that they're yellow but they were on sale for like $3.00 and you get 50 LEDs in each string so I bought 3 and I'm trying it out on this. The sign boxes look to be lit with yellow sometimes anyway. :P
One of the LED strings went into a 1/350th Titanic I'm building at my wife's request. Finishing that is my next project after the TARDIS is relatively done.

Loving what's going on here.  Great proportions.   Shia LaBeouf is kind of a nontraditional choice to pilot the TARDIS however.  Who else is in your collection?

Indeed - he needs to watch out Shia doesn't pilot it into a truck....   :o
My pilot's license? That's out back in the Cessna. Or perhaps you're referring to my license to kill. Revoked. Trouble at the Kazakhstan border.

I could give you the details but then I'd have to kill you, which I can't do because my license to kill has been revoked.

Mostly Star Wars figures... a couple of Indy figures too.
The main figure I use as a Doctor stand-in is Connor Macleod. Tonight, I'll be buying a David Tennant figure at whona.com they only have the spacesuit one but I can swap the head onto another figure and make him a proper outfit.

I kinda like the LaBeouf figure.. except for the other night when my mother saw the pic in my photobucket account and she calle me to ask how I got an action figure of myself. lol I look nothing.. well, very little like him.
