It was indeed located on Manor Road, but more like the corner of Manor Road and Maresfield.
The structure is still there, ant it is attached to a house, so it was likely more of a police station than a box.

Its curious to note on the picture they have two Speakerphone panels. One with the sign of the Left, but also a signless unit on he Right. I can't imagine what the second unit would be for. I imagine whoever lives there now had to put in windows, or it was covered up with new bricks. I can't say because they have too many plants covering the streetview.

There used to be a similar arrangement outside the police station in my home town (Matlock) they had a blue box attached to the wall and a door panel the same as a PA2 sadly at some point in the mid 90's it was replaced by this :(

Me again, here's a pic of an early Brighton police box. I'm guessing between 1925 - 28. The picture is labelled as 1960 probably because of the Ben Hur banner on the cinema. I think it's the 1925 version of Ben Hur judging by the cars.

Extract from a 1933 chief constables report

"During the year five additional Police Boxes were erected in the outlying parts of the town, including Whitehawk, Ladies Mile, and Bevendean, where extensive building operations are being carried out. The total number of Police Boxes is now 43. Very little use is made of the telephones in the Police Boxes, which are placed there for the benefit of the public. I do not think it is realised by the public that these give instant communication direct to the police headquarters and without charge."

When you think you have got the history of Brighton police boxes sorted an article floats up and messes with everything. Anyway these two boxes where apparently in Brighton
