Does anyone know of a reference for the dimensions of the screwdriver used by the 9th and 10th Doctors? I know there's a toy version that is marketed, but I heard this had to be modified to accomodate batteries.

I'm not sure if there are any definitive measurements for the 9/10th Dr. Who screwdriver, i think there are a few comparison photos on this site, including in the 'building Teletrans screwdriver' diary in the gadget workshop.  I also think there is a build diary for a 1:1 scale model for this version.  All I can suggest is have browse and see what you find. :)
Perhaps I'm old and tired, but I think that the chances of finding out what's actually going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say, "Hang the sense of it," and keep yourself busy. I'd much rather be happy than right any day.

The original design drawing has dimensions for the 9 and I believe the 10 is closer to the toy version. We're a bit restricted with what we can show here because of an agreement with the BBC not to show dimensions or detail drawings of props from post 2005, you'd have to talk to the admins for more information on that but I'm sure purple's website has a copy of the drawing I mentioned and you could try looking at the websites for the upmarket replicas of this prop which might give you an idea of overall lengths and so forth.
